dear james,

i can't even focus in class.
well,
i can focus in class, just not on the lesson.
i seem to only be able to focus on you.
the way you bite the inside of your cheek when you concentrate.
the way your jaw tenses when you can't seem to execute whatever spell or potion we were assigned,
and when you're really frustrated
you push your unruly hair away from you face and groan.
it's quite cute, honestly.
then again,
i think everything you do is cute.
well, the bell for transfiguration just rang,
see you there.

love, a girl in the same year as you.

most people would think it weird, or creepy even if someone was staring at them in class, but on the contrary, it made james potter feel important, and there is nothing that james liked more than feeling important.

the boy was also getting ansty.

the girl who was sending him letters professing her love for him was dropping small hints as to who she was. It was like she was wanted james to figure out who she was.

"oi, prongs!" remus called to the potter boy who was clutching his letter in his hand. james looked up at his werewolf friend, queing him to continue,

"we're heading down to the great hall for dinner. you coming?"

"yeah, yeah i'll be down in a second. wait in the common room for me?"

remus nodded and walked out of the dormitory while james walked to the bathroom to freshen up for dinner. he ran his fingers through his messy hair, as he did so, his first thought was the girl writing him letters; she liked his hair in it's curly mess. his second thought was his dear lily evans; she hated his unruly mop of curls.

for something so incredibly simple, james seemed to be contemplating his entire exsistance. should he be himself and impress his mystery admirer? or should he use a drop or two of his father's own sleakeazy's hair potion to tame his raven coloured hair to impress lily evans, the girl he's been pinning after for the past five years?

with slight hesitance, james reached for the potion and placed two drops in the center of his head. his hair instantly became neat and straight, and completely unlike himself. with an approving nod and a couple sprays of his cologne, james straightened his tie and walked down the stairs and into the common room.

as james walked down the stairs, rose evans looked up from her place in the windowseat. she was utterly confused at first, why does his hair look like that? was her first thought, but as she watched him approach her twin sister, lillian, she understood. he's trying to impress her.

with a heavy sigh, she pushed her glasses back up her nose and turned back to her book, her strawberry blonde hair acted as a curtain to shield the heartbroken girl away from the world.
