Loki sat in the library, reflecting back on all that had happened in the battle.
There were things that happened out there that made him question things about himself. He thought he knew himself best, guess he was wrong. The look on Laufey's face, the blue that appeared on his skin when a Frost Giant touched him, the worried look Heimdall had when they came back. They were all connected. They all connected to a part of him in which he never knew about. Was it possible...No, it couldn't be, he thought, I'm fully Asgardian. I'm not a Frost Giant. I'm not one of those monsters.
He didn't convince himself. He just couldn't. The evidence showed too much to be ignored. He wondered if Thor was like that too. He wondered if the two princes of Asgard were somehow different from the rest of the realm, and they have been lied to their whole lives, or was it just him?
Loki got up and grabbed a book from the shelf about Jotunheim. It was about the Casket that was taken from them a long time ago. The Casket was the power of the people of Jotunheim. If by any chance he's one on them (which he prayed that it was a lie), the Casket would tell the whole truth.
He was scared. Scared that everything that he was told was a lie. Scared that he was really not related to the ones he loved. Scared that he wasn't the blood-son of Frigga. But he had to know.
He took a breath and released it. Then he got up, put the book back in its place, and headed toward the room with all the relics collected from other realms or made here. His mind told him to stop, that he's making a big mistake, but the question had to be answered. It wouldn't stop bugging him until he found out.
On his way to the room, he noticed that the bedroom door of Odin and Frigga was halfway open. He heard voices in the room. Loki leaned against the wall next to the door and listened to the conversation.
"I told you, Odin," a woman said. It had to be Frigga. "I told you we should have told him from the beginning. We all did. Now he will find out the truth the hard way and hate us. Why did you hesitate to tell him?"
"You know well why I did what I did," said a strong confident voice. It was definitely Odin. "For him not to feel different. It was for his benefit."
"His benefit? His benefit would have been knowing the truth and not being ashamed of who he is. You and all the other Asgardians have told him lies by telling dreadful stories about Jotunheim. They're not who you say they are."
"How do you know, Frigga? How-"
"Because I have seen one face to face, growing up in the palace of Asgard. You and everyone else say that it's impossible to melt a Frost Giant's heart. Then what is he to you? A stone-hearted killer who knows nothing but to murder? I once knew a king like that, but his heart has melted after his second child was born. What different is it for a Frost Giant?"
There was an awkward silence between the two. Loki couldn't see him, but he knew that Odin was shut up, having trouble accepting the truth that Frigga just threw at him.
I once knew a king like that, but his heart has melted after his second child was born. Were they talking about Thor? Was Thor the Frost Giant that Odin despised and everything changed when Loki came along? Loki felt bad for Thor. He was being lied to all his life. If Loki knew it, he would tell his brother the truth. But at the same time, he couldn't fight the urge that maybe, just maybe, they were talking about him.
Odin spoke. "How do you know how Laufey's heart is like? He's nothing but a fool looking for revenge!"
"He has every right to want revenge after what you have taken from him."
"The Casket?"
"Not the Casket. You know what I mean. As a mother, I would feel the same way if someone took away from me something of that much value, something priceless. And in case you did not know, I know Laufey's heart more than you realize. Unlike you, I know how to look before I judge." With that, Loki heard footsteps indicating that Frigga was leaving and that was the end of the conversation.
What they had said was more reason of why he had to find out the truth, to find out what the Casket had been hiding for many years. Loki quickly walked passed the door to avoid being noticed and he quickly resumed his walk to the vault.
Once he got there, Loki looked all around the hallways to make sure no one was watching or following. When be thought that there was no one, he slowly opened the door and entered quickly. The Casket waited patiently for him at the other side of the room. He took a deep breath and headed toward it.
His hands began to shake, as did his legs. He felt as if he would collapse at any moment, his legs telling him not to take another step, but he didn't listen. He kept walking until he was able to see the Casket in full detail.
He hesitated at first, but with hands shaking something fearce, he grabbed the handles of the Casket. His heart dropped at what he saw and tears threatened to fall on his cheeks. Sadness and anger filled his heart. He didn't understand. Who-what am I?
His hands began to turn blue, spreading all over his body. He was one of them...a monster.
All his thoughts suddenly stopped when there was a loud voice at the other side of the room. "STOP!"

Heimdall saw all of it. Loki's curiosity, the argument between the king and queen, the truth revealed. His fear for Asgard came true. The young prince knows. My king, I told you to tell him. Now it is too late.
