"What do you want Baby?" I stood in front of the glass with both hands next to my head. Glancing over all the ice creams I was torn between two options.

Oreo Crunch or Cookie Monster...

I could go with the usual route, Cookie Monster, but maybe I want to stray from the pack... You know? Turn over a new leaf...

No who am I kidding. I ain't changing anything.

"Cookie Monster please." I say with a smile.

The lady behind the ice cream bar was staring down my dad like she was lost in her own world. She didn't even hear my order. Dad was oblivious to the fact the he as being ripped apart in the lady's mind.

"Ma'am? Can I have a small bowl of the Cookie Monster please?" Absolutely nothing. It was like she was brain dead. Rolling my eyes I sigh and dig my fingers into my fists. I am losing my patients lady... I stared her down the same way she stared at my dad. I could feel my face and ears get hotter by the second.

"Look horn dog my dad is married okay? So can you please stop undressing him in your mind and get me my goddamn Cookie Monster ice cream?" I yell over the glass. Customers in the shop stopped eating and watched the scene unfold. My dad's eyes travels from his phone and down to me, jaw dropped, shock evident on his face. The lady behind the bar looked like a mix of embarrassed and offended.

Good you no good for anything bi...

"Sophia McKenzie!" My dad's voice hissed at me and I cringed away. Meeting his eyes I saw that the lady behind the bar isn't the only person embarrassed in the parlor. Dad took a hold of my left hand and without looking at the lady, ordered his ice cream "I need a medium bowl of the Chocolate Pirate and a small bowl of the Cookie Monster. To go please."

............

"You can't just say those things Sophia! It's embarrassing and disrespectful." Dad groans on and on, on the drive home. We left the store quickly. I was surprised that his ice cream didn't melt right there in his hands due to how hot headed he is becoming.

"Dad I said I was-"

"Sorry? You're sorry?" He scoffed and looked out the window as we passed homes that lead up to our house. We lived in a gated community, it was nice. It was also lonely due to the fact that only rich old men live here. "Do you know how that makes me look Sophia? Do you know how influential your actions are to my reputation? One wrong move and BAM! My whole business can go underwater." He pulled at his hair and then began texting on his phone.

"Seriously, I swear sometimes you don't think!" He mutters with so much anger that it surprised me that he said it so quietly

"Seriously, I swear sometimes you don't think!" He mutters with so much anger that it surprised me that he said it so quietly. Once those words came out of his mouth he knew that a boundary was broken.

Gently we pull up to our house and I don't waste any time reaching for the door handle to get out of the limo.

"Look Soph I didn't mean-"

"Look Soph I didn't mean-"

"You didn't mean it I know. I need to learn how to bite my tongue and smile. I get it." I jump out the door and close it behind me. Hearing something hit the door I could only imagine it being his phone.

"Fifth one this month, better learn how to bite your tongue dad." I say lowly and enter the house.
