"(Y/N)?"
"Blake."
"Is there a reason when I told you that I would meet you in your room you decided to go to the other side of town?" I approach (Y/N)'s crouched body as he stayed still as a statue.
"I decided I didn't want to talk." (Y/N) just mutters out.
"I don't mean to seem angry with you (Y/N) but..."
"Is it what I did to Cardin?"
"Yes."
"He deserved it."Just how (Y/N) said that in an apathetic tone made me shocked.
"(Y/N), Cardin was at Beacon to become a good person. Not to be beaten into a coma." But all he does is chuckle at my response. "Are you (Y/N)?"
"That's a silly question, Blake."
"You didn't answer my question."
"I am. I'm (Y/N) Redgrave. But most importantly, the Devil of Vale's kitchen."
"Then what are you doing this? I thought you got better. I know you got better." Placing my hand on (Y/N)'s shoulder I think I can just comfort him. "Is it because Gary at the shelter yelled at you again? Did he touch you?"
"Yeah."
"I know he's the best person at that shelter (Y/N) but maybe deep down in his heart, he feels bad about it." Sitting next (Y/N), I wrap my arms around him. "Aren't you glad you can talk about it to me? Talk about anything?"
"Yeah..." (Y/N) shrugs his shoulders wanting me to let go of him, so I do.
"Blake, I had a dream last night, or maybe even an epiphany. I killed Roman and Adam with my bare hands and there was a parade thrown for me. Everybody in Vale cheered for me, gave me gifts, and affection. Saying stuff like, 'thank you, Devil.' And the loudest kid said to me, 'I want to be just like you, Devil. Just like you (Y/N).' So I took roman's head and ripped it off of his stiff body, then I threw it to the kid and everybody in the crowd started to cheer even louder for me."
"Were you disturbed by this nightmare?""Yeah, I woke up in a sweat actually." (Y/N) stood up as he took a step closer to the edge, (with the edge being halfway under his boots). "But now I realize that maybe if I killed Roman, he won't be able to do his illegal activities. That he won't hurt anyone again..." (Y/N)'s laughs and it sounds like dry ice cracking. "That if I dragged him through broken glass, that if I made him a cripple, if I killed him after days of torture, he wouldn't live and do the things he knows best. And when I had that thought, I felt happy."
"That's not gonna work (Y/N), theirs already thousands of people In the world like that. Killing them all would be a mass genocide."
"What's Cardin been up to recently?"
"In the infirmary because of you, (Y/N). The people of Vale are starting to wonder if you're the man that they thought you were."
"But I noticed that you're calmer than yesterday. You don't have that many worries at Beacon anymore."
"Yes, but-"
"'Yes,' indeed." Everything starts to come to a still for me. This isn't (Y/N). This isn't the boy I meet fatefully in the woods. This is someone else. It has to be. He's becoming the Devil.
The Devil leaps off the building to streets below as I follow. Using the crescent-shaped end of his cane, the Devil swings from a lamp post and onto a moving bus, swinging off the same lamp post I only catch the edge of the bus as my fingers have trouble trying to keep me from not letting go.
"Look, Blake, " the Devil talks as my grip grows weaker. "I'm doing what I think is right." Fingers shaking, "I think I'm gonna be a different man when I kill Roman..." My fingers give out as they try to reach for something solid but only claw at the night cold air. "So you're gonna promise me something." (Y/N)'s voice sounds almost mournful as his warm gloved hand catches mine. "When I do it, I want you and only you to take me into custody Blake." Pulling me up onto the bus, (Y/N) hugs me. "Promise."
"I promise to do the right thing."
"Good." The Devil speaks again. "Until then, just stay out of my way." Sweeping me to the ground the Devil jumps off the bus and starts leaping from car to car until he reaches a back alley where I can't see him. I want to move put that throw he did got the wind get knocked out of me.
The cold air sends shivers through my whole body as I lay on the bus for minutes. I really can't think why (Y/N) has changed so much. I just need to stop before he hurts himself.
After I got my bearings I returned to my dorm in Beacon where everybody was asleep. Or so I thought. "Where have you been?"
Getting into my bed, Yang shot up from her own as she was pretending to be asleep. Though I don't like to talk anything personal about myself to anyone here, but thinking about what happened tonight, I just might tell Yang.
"C'mon Blake. Cat got your tongue?" Yang comes over to me and starts to dig and twist her knuckle on the top of my head.
"Well, I'm having some trouble with someone I know. And I'm starting to get worried about what he'll possibly do."
Yang lets go and smiles at me. "Guy trouble? I'm so proud you came out of your shell and started dating."
"This is serious Yang."
"Oh." Yang sits down across from me. "Tell me what's goin' on."
"My friend is changing into something so devilish and I'm scared for him."
"Is it Sun your worried about?"
"No."
"Then who is he?"
"He's someone I love too much to let him become something he doesn't deserve to be..." Lowering my head I look at my hand and I still feel (Y/N) holding it. "A monster."
"Where does live?" Yang asked pulling out her scroll.
"No Yang. You just don't get to hit him because he's going through a hard time."
"I'm not gonna hit someone you love. I'd break him and you'd get even sadder."
"Then what are you gonna do?"
"Oh, I got a guy."
"Like a-"
"Yup."
"Homeless shelter in central Vale." I giggle a little. "I'm surprised you found a guy with that temper of yours."
"Just be quiet and happy Blake."
Feeling relieved, I place my heavy and weary head down to rest. Instead, I toss and turn worrying about (Y/N). My body twists and turns so much, it feels like an exercise. Every time I close my eyes, I see (Y/N) covered in blood looming over the limp dead body of Roman grinning at me and it always makes my heart pump cold blood through my body. The final time I open and close my eyes, I see sunlight peaking into my room as I want to close them, again but can't.
I didn't get much sleep last night.
