Chapter 30 - I Miss You
Amber P.O.V-
"Aw, show me your hand." Stacy squealed running towards me as I entered the pack house.
"Wait. You knew?" I asked her surprised.
"Obviously. Now show me!" She ordered grabbing my hand. "Where's the ring?" She was confused, disappointed, sad even.
She looked up from my hand and looked around. "Where's Xavier?" She asked desperately. "Please tell me the ring didn't fit so he's getting it resized."
"Stace I -" She cut me of.
"Tell me that's what's happening." She commanded, I shook my head frantically.
"I said no."
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, without another word she pulled me into a hug.
"I really wanted to be made of honor." She mumbled. I glared at her. "You're right, this isn't about me."
"Honey let me see!" Carla ran into the room.
Stacy began to make wild signals to stop her but Carla must have taken them as excited movements.
Carla grabbed my left hand holding it up and looking at my hand before grabbing my right hand.
"Where is it? Did it not fit?" Carla pouted.
"Actually I said no." I told her hesitantly.
"What!" Carla shouted. "You said no to my baby. How dare you!"
"Mum." Tommy entered the room. "Calm down."
"She said no to your brothers proposal." She pointed at me accusingly.
Tommy's eyes widened in surprise for a moment. "It doesn't matter mum. Amber doesn't need you shouting at her right now."
"But she..." His mum trailed of not having anything else to say.
"Mum. Let Amber and Xavier figure this out together." Tommy told her placing his hand on her shoulder.
Brandon rushes down the stairs is phone held to his ear. "Yeah I'll be right there."
"And where do you think you're going?" Carla placed a hand on her hip.
"I'm meeting Xavier and Tim." He was about to walk out the door.
"No you're not." She told him. "Tell them to come home and you can sit over there and wait." She pointed at the couch.
"But I-" He was cut off.
"Now!" Brandon quickly ran over to the couch.
"Yeah Xavier change of plans, you're mum wants you to home. I think it's urgent, and don't forget to bring Tim. I don't want my mum to kill him." They exchanged more words before Brandon hung up.
"Yeah he's not coming." Brandon looked at Carla nervously. "He said that he'll try to get back before midnight."
"Where is he?" Brandon gave Carla the address.
"This is a bar." Carla growled.
"Yes mam." Brandon nodded.
"Oh he's grounded. I don't care what he says." Carla stormed out of the room.
"I'll be upstairs." I told Stacy.
She nodded in understanding. She left me to be alone.
Should I even be in this bedroom? After all it is Xavier's room. After a few minutes of contemplating I decided to leave.
As I stood up and made my way to the door it slammed open, making me jump backwards. Xavier froze when he saw me.
"Hi." He mumbled.
"Hey." I smiled back weakly.
He quietly closed the door and walked further into the room.
"You know, I wasn't even going to propose tonight." He told me.
"Then why did you have a ring?"
"My mum gave it to me right before our date." He explained. "It's a family heirloom."
He fished the velvet box from his pocket and tossed it to me. Luckily I caught it.
"In the moment part of me wanted to propose. I guess I thought that it's going to happen eventually so why not now. Then as soon as you said no I remembered you're human and that humans don't get married this quickly or this young." He began to rambled.
"If I was mates to another werewolf I would probably be married with my second kid on the way. Not that I would change you for anything, I like that you're human. Well most of the time. If I'm being honest their are certain scenarios where I would prefer you to be a werewolf."
"I feel the same way." I told him.
"Sometimes you wish you were a werewolf?" He asked me.
"No, sometimes I wish you were human but I wouldn't change a thing about you. Actually I would change that you proposed to me." He laughed at my words.
"I mean I would change that you said no." He teased.
"So would I." I blurted out before covering my mouth with a gasp.
"What?" He grinned at me.
"Uh- I- Uh." I stuttered. "No. Ignore that."
"Whatever you want." He laughed giving me a quick kiss.
