"Eat it" I urged as she pushed the plate away, "Come on" I said, "I'm full" she complained, "you had about three peas!"

"I'm not giving in again, I ate mine, well most of it" I said, "Look, Veronica, I always get marked on how skinny I am and you're even skinnier, you need some fat, eat up" I ordered, she glared down at the peas, chicken and broccoli Karen made, they had all left the table by now"

"I have a small appetite" she lied, "I can hear your stomach rumbling from my room!" I laughed, "eat!"

An hour more passed and she only ate half more of her chicken, "why are you so obsessed with me eating" she complained, "we already look enough alike"

"It's not that" I said, growing angry, I don't know why I was angry in the first place but she was testing my patience. "Veronica you need to start eating!" I shouted, her facial expression changed immediately, she pulled herself off the chair and stormed up to her room. I grabbed her plate and threw it in the sink and went out to my car. I got in and drove off. I continued driving until I made up my mind. I drove straight to the airport and purchased a flight to Berkeley that would leave in an hour, I bought necessities in the small shops and a bag that was small enough to fit above me on the plane.

'I'll be back when I can' I texted Veronica, I was gonna ask him to his face.

I boarded the plane and turned my phone onto airplane mode, I lay back in the chair and fell straight to sleep.

"I'm not giving up!" He shouted, picking up a bottle and throwing it to the ground causing a loud crash of glass to echo through his dorm room.

"you're gonna kill yourself" I screamed as I began dialing 911, "We're more than over!" I shouted, storming out of the apartment and requesting the police. "Yes, there's some guy on my campus with drugs and he's underage drinking, I'm worried and I think he's gonna hurt himself if he does anymore" I fake cried, "don't worry sweetie, we have to of our guys already on the case, if you could give us an address an room number please"

"Berkeley college, dorm 67 room 15 floor 2" I answered from the top of my mind, "do you wanna stay on the line?" She asked, "no I gotta go"

I skipped off, happy with my decision, I don't give a fuck about him anymore anyways. I was ready to go home and find a new guy, someone who would show me respect the way Jake used to.

I bolted upright in my airplane seat, dripping with sweat, my breaths grew deeper and deeper until I felt as if I was about to pass out, "you alright?" Some middle aged awkward guy asked from beside me, I nodded slowly not daring to close my eyes again.

I didn't feel that way about Jake at all, I loved him and his addict wasn't gonna stop me, he's been there for me through everything and I'm not even there for him. I felt like an awful human being, he won't take me back, not after what I said, he has the right to leave me!

The aircraft landed and I sprinted out of the familiar airport, I hailed for a taxi and one almost immediately stopped for me, I gave him the address and told him to hurry and in about 40 minutes we arrived at campus and I gave him whatever I had which was too much but it didn't matter all I wanted was to apologize to Jake.

It took me a moment to figure out how to get to his accommodation cause I was so flustered but I finally prepared myself mentally for whatever I was going to see. It's been two weeks since I've last seen him which is normal but it's felt like months, I wasn't gonna say sorry straight away, maybe wait for him to explain himself and then decide how this would go down.

I reached his door and hesitated before knocking lightly, it took ages for the door to open and when it finally did I was disappointed.

"Is jake here Louis?" I asked his roommate who smelt like smoke, I was scared, if Jake was in here there's a high chance he would smell too. "No" He answered before slamming the door, I knocked on the door again and again until I used the key Jake gave me for emergencies.

"Get out!" He shouted, "Louis you need to help me" I begged as tears began to sting my eyes, "Where's Jake? Please?" I asked, "for fuck sake, I'm Vanessa, his girlfriend!"

"Oh" he answered, giving me a dirty look, "He doesn't live here anymore" he added before pushing me out, "Why?"

"Because of you!" He shouted, slamming the door once more. "What the fuck?" I whispered to myself.

I trudged around, going to the reception desk and asking for his room but they wouldn't give it me, they said it was privet information. I went to the college cafe and began fixing myself a drink of coffee, a few students came in and laughed for a while and sat down, I walked over to them and they just stared at me, "excuse me, I'm sorry to bother you but you wouldn't know who Jake Buckner is?" I asked, interrupting their conversations. "No" a girl blandly said before going back to talking.

I dialed his number but there was no reply, there's only one more place that he could be that's in mind, I went to the library and once again, no luck.

Veronica called me an hour into searching but I declined her call, texts came in from her and more calls but I refused to look them. I finally went over to this dodgy looking group and asked them, "who wants to know?" The leader asked, "me"

"He's in the lake campus" a guy behind me said, I turned around and faced a tall lanky dude with a beard and a backpack, "how do you know?" I asked, "my friends roommate" he replied, taking a bite from an apple.

He walked me over to this 'lake campus' telling me about Jake.

"He's strange, quite, Billy said it's like he's depressed most of the time, he threw most of his stuff in a campfire one night and began crying, he keeps repeating some line that no one can understand cause he only mumbles" he explained,

"Jake Buckner?"

"Yeah"

"This is it" he smiled, sticking his arm out and showing me the door, floor 6 room 28" he smiled, opening the door for me, I thanked him and let him go off.

I took the lift up to the sixth floor and slowly made my way over to room 28, I braved myself for what I was about to see. I cautiously knocked on the door and squeezed my eyes shut. The door opened to a big guy, the total opposite to the guy who showed me here, "is Jake here?" I stuttered, his chiseled jaw clicked up and down as he called Jakes name but there was no reply.

"Who are you" He asked awkwardly as I explained the whole situation to him, "good" he sighed, "fix him or something" he smiled, leading me to Jakes room.

After knocking and hearing him shout for me to go away I opened his bedroom door, he didn't look up from his bed, his room was dark and stuffy, I made my way over to the curtains and flashed them open, I heard him complain and shout some more, I put my bag down and opened the window, allowing the sunlight to flood the room. "That's better" I laughed, I heard Jake sitting up and take a deep breath. Next thing I knew I was high in the air, back in his arms.
