Veronica still wouldn't talk to me, I tried apologizing about what happened on Monday with the whole me being tipsy and leaving while she walked home. Karen was going on a 'business' trip with some guy called Noah from work, the kids were staying with John and we were supposed to stay with him but I was going to stay with Jake for the weekend.
"Get your shit together!" I shouted at Rebecca, she was crying over her missing blanket which Karen Had obviously finally thrown away but didn't have the gut to tell her. Jacob has been attached to Veronica, ever since he learned the difference, he was the only one that could tell us apart most of the time. No one understood why he took such a liking to her but she didn't mind, she said he was like a little friend who would check up on her a lot.
I threw the bags into the trunk of my car and forced everyone in as Karen ran after them for goodbye hugs and kisses but I drove off before she could even graze the car.
John's house was tiny and old, I kicked the kids out as Jacob and Veronica gave each other a hug, he came to me for one but I told him to go away. John offered to make us dinner but he would possibly poison mine so I said no and dragged Veronica to the car.
The journey was silent, I turned the radio up about twenty minutes into the car ride but she turned it right back down again, "Why did you do that?" I asked, turning it back up.
"Silence" she replied, turning the radio off completely.
"What's your problem? You keep blocking me out, getting mad or else you're off with Jacob and full on ignoring me" I sighed, shaking my head in disappointment.
"I'm blocking you out?" She laughed sarcastically, "Are you blind? Who's the one who on the first day left to drink in the bathroom after promising to stay with me" she began,
"You were fine weren't you?" I shouted,
"It was my first day! In a new school! A new state! New kids but this time richer and scarier!" She shouted back. "Tuesday night you disappeared from the house to have dinner with Jake, Wednesday you locked yourself in the room cause Karen was annoying you! You don't realize how dramatic you are! I was locked with no choice in a house for days on end and you're upset cause she's a little bit mean. Thursday you went to Laura Terry's party even though I asked you not to go cause I needed your help painting my room and today you just want everything your way!" She finished out of breath from shouting.
"I can't change my life as fast as you want me too, you came here, you have to get used to the way I do things" I continually tried defending myself.
We argued for three hours straight before she blocked me out and went to sleep. Great, just great! A six hour drive with an insane person.
We were about an hour away when Veronica spoke up,
"Vanessa" she began in her normal voice, calming down. "I'm sorry but you invited me here to live with you, in a city which is filled with either rich or poor people, you can't expect me to fit in and agree with all the stuff you do in school to prove yourself. You go off and stay with Jake, Malcolm came for the weekend with his wife so I'm staying in a hotel" she explained, making me stop the car so she could get out.
"When he doesn't show up I'll expect you'll call me" I shouted, driving off leaving her behind with her bag, sick of her bullshit.
I pulled up outside Jakes accommodation and banged on his door, he opened it and smiled, he pulled me in for a kiss and could tell that I was agitated. "Is your roommate in?" I asked impatiently, "no, he's gone home" he chuckled,
"So where's your clone?" He smiled, as I flopped back on the couch and spread my legs across it, "she's staying with her brother, Malcolm I think"
"So babe" he said trying to contain his cute smile, "I know that school isn't going well according to your Twitter, and from what I can tell you and Veronica aren't on good terms"
