ink pt2

katie looked at lance and slightly smiled. 

"hi..." she breathed. 

lance smiled back at her.

"how are you holding up?"

pidge shrugged and made a sort of sigh mix with a slight grunt noise. lance sat closer and set his guitar down. 

"so how'd you know my song?" he asked

"Matt taught it to me. he always said you were a pretty cool guy." Pidge said looking down at her feet, "he would sing it to me when thunderstorms would happen. it always helped. my parents always said it was funny to see Matt, being so short trying to carry his baby sister into his room because the thunder scared her." pidge smiled and gave a half laugh. 

"your brother is amazing and he's alive. I know it." Lance said.

pidge looked up at lance with wide hazel eyes. 

"How do you know?" she asked.

"I can feel it and a few days before the Kerberos mission he gave this," lance pulled out a small device, " it has a signal strong enough to reach through space. he's been sending me codes. that's how I know he's alive... the only problem is that I can't crack codes. "

pidge took the small device and looked over the most recent code. 

"come with me," she said standing up and grabbing his hand. 

lance grabbed his guitar and slung it over his shoulder. he followed Katie all the way to what he assumed to be her house. she pulled him inside and up to her room. 

"Katie, what's going on?"

"it's a family code.  My family and I made those devices in case of emergencies. matt must've readjusted the receiver so it could reach space but as a family, we created the code on our own. in other words, you won't find this code in any coding book out there."

pidge pulled out her laptop and a tiny thumb drive. she connected the device and typed several keys. 

"yes!" pidge got up and jumped around her room. lance smiled and hugged pidge. 

"wait what is it?"

"a message."

"Katie," lance and pidge looked at the device to see a hologram of Matt talking, "I'm sorry, but I won't be back until your older. I was kidnapped by an alien race called the galra. I have already escaped but it will take about three years to get home and I need to save Shiro and dad. I love you and you have so much potential. I knew the first time you wrote on your arm, who your soulmate was. he's a friend from school. and if you're hearing this. you've found him. treat him well. and lance, treat my baby sister well. sing to her everytime there a thunderstorm. she can be pushy but she means well."

pidge looked at the hollow gram with puppy eyes.

"but I do have a mission for you. the galra have been in a war for 10 thousand years and they are looking for a powerful weapon called Voltron. voltron is created when five lions come together and form it. if the galra get Voltron we are all doomed. I have heard that one of the lions is hidden on earth. I tracked down its coordinates using records of alien frequencies and strange happening on earth. you must find it and protect it. that's all I know but I need you to find the lion. I've been dragged into something much deeper than a mission to Kerberos. please... I need your help. Find Voltron and stop the galra. I love you, Katie. and lance one more thing. don't try anything with my sister. I'll beat your ass."

the message ended and pidge picked up the device. 

"Voltron."

lance out a hand on her shoulder.

"Whatever happens now. we're stuck together so. count me in."

pidge nodded and found the code for the location of the blue lion.
