 this is an alternate ending to the paladins going back to earth.)

the paladins flew into earth's atmosphere worried. they had just seen the message from pidge's family that the Galra were there. they landed at the garrison and all ran in. it was empty. 

"where are the Galra?" Kieth said.  

everyone took off in different directions. they all searched and searched for life but there was nothing. pidge ran to the lab with Lance. he didn't want to leave her alone in fear of what she might find. his family was in Cuba so he helped pidge. pidge made it to the lab and tried opening the electric door. 

"dad? dad! dad are you in there?!" tears started to furiously stream from her eyes as she pushed and pulled and yanked the door. nothing seemed to open it. pidge took a step back and rammed the door with her shoulder. she tried again and again. a crack sounded from her arm and she kept ramming the door. 

"Katie!" lance yelled grabbing her arm. he pulled her away from the door and held her close. she sobbed into his jacket. lance pulled out his beyard. he cut the door in half while one arm was still around pidge. lance kicked the door open and froze. pidge sobbed into his jacket and started to look in the room. lance quickly hugged her. pushing her face into his chest. 

"pidge... don't look," he said still holding her.  she knew why he would say that but she still squirmed out of his grip and ran into the room. she stopped when she saw her mom and dad's body laying over each other. 

"no... no no no nonononononono!" she fell to her knees and stared, "I'm so sorry! I wasn't fast enough." she cried. 

lance picked her up and carried her out of the room she sobbed and sobbed. lance ran to his loin with pidge in his arms. he put on his armor. and pidge ran to her lion to do the same. once the were armored up lance ran to pidge. she was sobbing on the floor in her lion. he sat next to her and cradled her in his arms. she clutched a piece of paper. 

"what is that?" Lance asked.

"I found it in my dad's hand."

"what does it say?" 

pidge shrugged. "I'm too scared to read it," she said handing to lance. 

lance opened it and started smiling. pidge looked at her and he hugged her. lance grabbed her hand and pulled her up. they ran back to pidge's parents and pidge stood in the doorway watching as Lance walked up to the bodies and stood in them. 

a hologram.  pidge gasped and took the note from Lance. 

she read it and at the bottom were coordinates. 

lance looked at pidge and smiled. they both ran to the red lion.

it was only a few moments and they were landing at the coordinates. lance stopped when he realized it was his home. but it was in ruins. he walked off the lion and forward. he stood in a clearing and turned to pidge. he started to cry. she ran forward and they sunk to the ground. he sobbed into her chest and she looked at what he was looking at. writing on the wall. 

"Katie if you are reading this you got the coordinates to my location. the plan was to hide here in the base but the galra found us" 

she started crying. lance held her close as they both just cried. so he really did die. the plan didn't work. pidge and lance cried with each other for hours. they finally git up and flew back to the garrison. pidge and Lance walked off and before the other got the chance to question pidge led lance to the green lion. they flew for hours and finally landed. pidge grabbed Lance's hand and led him off the ship. forest surrounded them. she led him on a path that went to a cliff. she sat on the edge and Lance sat next to her. 

"what was your family like?" she asked him. 

lance went on and on about his family. his brothers, sisters, mom, dad. pidge smile at the memories lance shared with her. 

that was a year ago. now the earth was slowly getting restored. pidge and lance had built houses for the paladin and had even managed to come across survivors living in caves. they had a beautiful community although lance never stayed at his out hut. he was always with pidge.  

pidge now actually carried a child with her. lance and pidge got married and he gave the house to another person.  they sat on the same cliff they sat on when they first came back to earth. she held his hand close and kissed it. he held his hand on her cheek and lifted her face to his.they kissed and held each other for hours before they had to get back to the village. slowly but surely... life would get better.
