This is coming out a bit early.If you are a participant who has entered a book, you are more than welcome to read over this criteria and change your book and edit it. There is quite a long time until the judging period begins because I don't have all the required judges and participants just yet. Please remember that these are 2019 awards and I have only started doing all the judges and participants entries now so that we can get a little head start. Also if you're a judge there's no point in judging just now because I haven't assigned books to each judge yet but you should read over this and if needed ask questions because I'm more than happy to help.
You don't have to answer the questions in the criteria, they're just there to help you mark and get your mind thinking but remember you HAVE to point out any mistakes that the writer may make so that they will be able to improve and they can know whether they were marked fairly. Please do NOT be biased when marking if you end up marking the book of someone you know.
Okay so here is the criteria:

Title:
Is the title of the book cliche, overused or is it original? If so, how well does it express what the story is about? Any tips on a better title?Out of 10 marks
Cover:
Does the story have a cover which is appropriate to it's theme? How clear is it and what images are used? Are it's images suited to the theme or express the story well? Is the title and other things on the cover clear? Are they too small or too big? What improvements could be made? Out of 10 marks
Description:
Is there a description for the story? Does it explain the plot of the story well? Does it outline a theme or is it just random words? Any improvements that can be made?
Out of 10 marksWriting:
Is the author's writing style good? Do they write awkwardly? How well do they describe things and how well do they help the reader to visualise things? Do they make grammar and punctuation mistakes? What structure do they use? Do they write in well structured paragraphs? Any improvements that can be made?
Out of 25 marksPrologue and or First chapter:
Does this chapter set a good opening for the story? Does it give a good beginning that engages the reader? Is it boring? Does it make the reader feel like continuing to read? Any improvements that can be made?
Out of 25 marksPlot:
Is the plot original? Is it rushed? Is it well thought? Overused? Is there a good plot twist? Is it exciting? Is it confusing?
Out of 45 marksLast chapter or Epilogue:
Does this chapter end the story well? Does it make sense? If the book is not yet finished and is still ongoing and it does not have a last chapter or epilogue, just mark it based on the latest chapter
