Charles Swan squinted up at the scorching Arizona sun, hoping that it would blind him forever so he wouldn't have to see the constant attention his older sister Bella got. Charles glanced at her now, eyes closed against the sunlight, absorbing its rays. Long, dark hair framing her alabaster skin.

Everyone referred to Bella as beautiful. Not the typical beautiful you saw in movies, but more of a subtle beauty. No one seemed to noticed that Charles shared many of the same features with her, including their brown, doe eyes, pale skin and chocolate hair. Charles couldn't even remember the last time he received a compliment. Perhaps it was never.

It was moving day for the Swan siblings. Their mother and Phil, their step father, were going on the road for his job. He was a minor league baseball player and spent the majority of his time away from his new family.

Bella and Charles could see what a toll that had been taking on their mother, Renée, so they decided to move in with their father Charlie, whom Charles was named after, in Forks Washington. It had more so been Bella's idea, however, Charles had no reason to disagree as it wasn't as if he were leaving anything behind in Arizona.

“Bye Bella!” The yells of teenage girls broke Charles from his reverie as he looked across the street to see three tanned, athletic, blonde girls hop into a convertible Mercedes.

Charles took a slight step forward as he tried to get a better look at the girls and that caused their attention to shift onto him.

“Bye Chance!” They yelled out as well, Chance, he supposed, was him. “Good luck at your new school!” And with a wave and a few superficial good wishes, they were off. Gone before Bella could wish them a good life, while also tripping in the process, and before Charles could correct them on his name. He, however, didn't care too much, quite used to being ignored and he didn't even know the names of those girls anyway.

Bella and Charles’ mother, Renée stepped out of their low rent house then, thrusting a phone at Bella as she was known to be the brighter of the two siblings.

“It won't work again, baby.” She stated with a slight pout while Bella checked out the problem and Charles chuckled at his mother's antics.

“You put it on hold,” Bella stated blankly as she handed the phone back to Renée.

“I did?” The mid-30's woman asked in confusion, looking down at the phone once more.

“Look,” Bella replied while pointing to the phone, “you also called Mexico.”

Renée pushed Bella playfully and laughed in amusement at herself. That was quite common for their mother as she was an eclectic woman, quite scattered and anxious. However, she was more like a friend than a parent to her children.

“I'll figure it out.” Their mother replied, waving her hand as if it were nothing. “You two gotta be able to reach me and Phil on the road - I love saying that - on the road.” She finished off with a dreamy look on her face.

Charles smiled softly, noting how happy the woman who raised him was. He was glad that after all her hard work and sacrifice, she was finally able to be happy.

“Very romantic.” Bella replied softly, just as happy for her mother as Charles was.

“If you call crappy motels, backwater towns and ballpark hot dogs romantic.” Phil Dwyer butted in as he came out of the house, carrying Bella's three suitcases with ease. Charles had already brought down his own luggage and loaded it into the car himself. Yet Bella, the damsel in distress as always, stated that they were too heavy for her and asked Phil to bring them down.

Phil walked by them, placing his Phoenix Desert Dogs baseball cap on Renée with a kiss, heading towards their old station wagon to load the luggage. Renée looped her arm with both of her children's as she lead them towards the car, and Charles knew that this is when they would have to say their goodbyes.

“Now, you two know if you change your minds, I'll race back here from wherever the game is.” Renée smiled at her kids yet from her strained expression, Bella and Charles knew what a great sacrifice that would be. The Swan siblings both smiled at their mother, Bella's forced while Charles’ was genuine.

“Don't worry mom, you won't have to be rushing back from anywhere. Bella and I will be just fine.” Charles spoke for the first time that day, his voice gruff from lack of use. He was definitely the more silent type and didn't always say much, instead staying back and observing the situation with watchful eyes.

Bella and Renée glanced at him for a moment when he spoke as they too weren't used to hearing it.

“Yeah,” Bella chimed in, “we won't change our minds, mom.”

“You might, you two always hated Forks.” Renée brought up warily, now worried that perhaps sending her children off across the country may not be the best idea.

“It's not about Forks, it's about Dad. I mean, two weeks a year, we barely know each other.” Bella replied matter-of-factly. While it was true that Bella and Charlie didn't have the best relationship, they were still closer than Charlie and Charles which is saying something since they bore the same name.

“And I've never hated Forks.” Charles added in. “I've never even seen what there is there. Who knows, maybe I'll turn out to love it.”

Bella rolled her eyes, wanting to remind Charles that there wasn't anything to do in Forks. Two weeks there was more than enough time to see all the town had to offer. One day was probably enough. Yet she didn't want to mention this in front of their mother as she may become worried once more so instead she forced another smile and nodded along with her brother.

“Mom, we want to go.” Charles said softly. It was quite true for him but most likely a lie for his sister.

“We'll be fine,” Bella added instead, not wanting to flat out lie to her mother.

Renée still looked wary but with another smile from her children she nodded in agreement, wrapping her arms tightly around them, wanting to never let go.

“Goodbye, my babies.” Renée sniffed while blowing a kiss to Charles and Bella as they offered one last wave and smile before sliding into the backseat of the station wagon. They both let out a breath of relief once they were out of ear shot from their overprotective mother. Charles just remained positive, hoping that this move would work out for the best.

The taller male glanced at his sister out of the corner of his eye to see her putting in her earphones, while carefully balancing her cactus in her lap. Charles, although not having brought a plant from home, did think the headphones were a good idea and went to do the same before he remembered he had already packed them in his carry on which was in the trunk.

The brunette male sighed softly and looked out the window, getting a last glimpse of all the sparkling malls, chic shoppers, manicured cactus gardens, and everything Arizona had to offer. It would be awhile before he would be back so he savoured every last minute of it.

He couldn't wait to see what Forks had in store for him.

And here's an update for you lovelies! I hope you guys liked it and didn't think it was too boring. Oh and I think I forgot to mention before but this fanfic will be based off of the Twilight movies, rather than the books.

This is dedicated to sectumsirius who is an amazing author and friend and helped me out a ton with planning and she actually even made an original character who you'll meet later on. Everyone should go check her out!

But please let me know what you think so far! Who would you like to see Charles romantically involved with? What do you think will happen once they get to Forks? Comment all your thoughts and opinions!
