"Deep breaths, baby girl."

Samantha barely shares her past with anyone outside family, particularly anything relating to her mother, Jenny Grigio-Kobayashi. A casual Japanese prostitute until she married the crazy rich billionaire supplying her with endless money. For as long she remains tied with that hunk, she doesn't have a given reason to sleep around for money anymore.

Even though her mother had came out of a such provocative profession, Samantha had lost her contact with her mother since then. It was Samantha's mother who was always trying to maintain their already strong relationship with her only daughter, but fails to reach to the other side for Samantha.

After years of trying and hoping for a single phone call with her mother, Samantha chose to have a relationship with her biological father for the mean time, Steve Harding, who owned a stable food company business titled 'Theresa' that sells canned goods. The business name was named after Steve's first wife, which bothered Samantha sometimes with guilt as Samantha was the bastard child who unintentionally caused the couple to divorce.

From her father, she was taught to know about the secrets and skills on how to help a business like 'Theresa' grow financially and rather successfully, so that hopefully Samantha can take over the role as CEO if she wanted to. Samantha thought it was a magnificent idea to continue the family business, but she wanted to do something else. Steve respected her wishes and supported her plan to start her own management all the way through. That was how close Samantha and her father were during those happier days.

Unfortunately, as much as Steve wanted to teach Samantha everything about business and management, Steve unexpectedly passed from a sudden stroke. Samantha was only seventeen when she lost the only parent who raised her to be the intelligent woman she became to be.

Samantha's inheritance, in which she received from her father's last will was enough to cover her student loan for college to study a bachelor's degree in business and hotel and resort management. From then, it seemed like things were slowly getting back into place again.

Shortly after her father's passing, Samantha had received multiple phone calls from her mother from Japan. This would've been the first time in years that she had interacted with her mother since their separation when Samantha was just five years old.

From that first phone call with Jenny, Samantha would often receive pricey gifts to make up the opportunities Jenny lost through the years and stages of Samantha's life. The gifts can be as simple as jewelry to some fashionable clothing Samantha would never wear "casually" in public.

It wasn't Samantha's fault that her mother turned out to be a snob, who probably carried more cash than Samantha by now, but she couldn't just neglect the effort Jenny showed to Samantha as a parent who had been separated from her child for so long. So in appreciation to Jenny's efforts, she accepted them and attempted to find some kind of use with them, even though they were mostly fit for a royal.

These days, Samantha doesn't think about it too much. It did help her from receiving second thoughts and hesitation whether to accept the gifts or not. It's just her mother's strange but different way of showing her love for her, and that they were hoping to see each other again very soon.
