*Contains a bit of smut near the end! :)
Music and chatter filled the room as you sipped on your drink with a group of friends. It was a few days prior to Halloween and you were currently attending your fourth Halloween party in a week's time. You had almost sat this one out, but your close friends were going and you knew you would have a great time. Plus, you had decided on wearing your favorite for that night. You were able to have it custom made and you loved it.
Although, you had only been at the party for an hour and your feet were already starting to kill you from the boots.
"Sooo, are you hoping to catch a man tonight?" Your best friend smirked. "You're looking quite hot."
You rolled your eyes, "Not even close. I just came out to have a good time," you said.
"And you can't have a good time with a man in your bed?" She smirked.
"And on that note, I'm going to get another drink," you said.
"Get me one!" She shouted after you as you made your way towards the bar.
The closer you got to the bar, the crowded it had become. You groaned as you pushed your way through and once you had, you took off the top hat you had been wearing. You swiped the hair from your face when you saw something glistening in the dim lights of the room and a familiar laugh you hadn't heard in ages.
You felt your heart drop into your stomach as the semi-drunken laugh continued. You turned your gaze in the direction of the laugh which only validated that he was in fact there. It shouldn't really come as shock because you knew how close he was to the hosts of the party, in fact, he was the reason why you even knew the hosts as well.
However, despite that, this moment was the first time you had seen him in almost five years. Four years and 345 days to be exact. Why you knew that you didn't know. You had been in other relationships since then and so had he, so why did seeing him still affect you.
Probably because you were still in love with him. Not that you would ever admit that out loud, but you were. The relationship you had was great and there were hardly any bad moments. You two had met at the age of sixteen and started dating a year later. However, both of your careers were skyrocketing and it became so overwhelming. You two were very seldom in the same city or even the country most of the time.
And you both started to feel like you two weren't even in a relationship towards the end. So, you both mutually decided on going your separate ways. Of course, you both said you two would stay friends since there wasn't any bad blood between the two of you, but a few months after the breakup, well, there wasn't really any contact.
Part of you always wondered what your life would be like had you two not broken up that day or if you would have at least kept in touch. Would you two have worked it out and be together? Is that why none of your recent relationships ever worked out because you kept comparing them to him?
You sighed, staring at him as all of these thoughts went through your head.

Harry could feel the alcohol flowing through his veins. He was at the point where he was laughing at pretty much any and everything regardless if it was actually funny. He went to take another sip of his drink when he realized there was only a tiny drop left. He excused himself from the group of people he had been chatting with and headed towards the bar.
When he looked up, he stopped dead in his tracks, almost dropping the glass in his hands. His gaze went straight to your face as he realized it was you and it wasn't just the alcohol. He then looked down, noticing your outfit, and found himself getting heated. This was the first time he had seen you in such a long time.
