Jen heaved a breath and walked off the pain in her legs. She took a last deep breath and felt her heart begin to fall. And slowly, her eyes widened.
The world falling into place around her.
Not her world though.
Her senses came back to her, a taut rubber band snapping. Damp earth groaned under her steps. The air was thick, humid and heavy weighing down on her shoulders. Jen struggled a step forward.
Trees. As far as she could see. Densely packed. A cold and stillness around her. A part of her, however small, felt safe.
