"You're a nasty little thing," I whispered to him, brushing the raven hair from his face.
Seth looked up to me, his eyes red and dry. "Sorry." His chained hands grazed my waist. I couldn't stifle the gasp. "It still hurts?"
"You bet it does." I stepped away, ruffling his hair. "Which is why we're adding extra reinforcements."
A pair of silver rings fell out of my pockets, rolling onto the stone floor. They echoed in the cold castle room. A wind howled outside. My fingers reached for the pelt around my shoulders, looking for warmth.
"Rings? Mom, what's that going to do? Make me a better dressed dog?" He laughed despite shivering, white skin covered in goosebumps.
"They'll keep you from using your claws."
