It was the end of the day and I returned to Spyro's house to be greeted by him and the others. They always seemed bright, cheerful and happy. It always brought a smile to my face.
We gathered together at the dinner table and ate some delicious homemade spaghetti, made by yours truly....Spyro.
"Maaaaan, this is delicious!!" Shouts Eruptor after taking a big spoonful of the noodles.
"Really? I'm glad you like it! I've never made spaghetti before, so I, uh...thought I'd give it a try."
"It's yummy! You need to make this more!" I grin while devouring the majority of the food.
"D-Don't be eating it too fast, now! We don't need you choking! And we certainly don't need you giving us one of those insane hiccups of yours." Points out Jet Vac.
"O-Oh right. Oops."
Everyone, including me, laughs together at the table. Once we calmed down...
"So...what was your first day at the Academy like? Make any new friends?"
"W-Well...it seemed to go ok. It was mostly just notes and letchuring today."
"Uuuugh, how boring! I'm so glad I graduated so I don't have to go through any more of that!" Groans Spyro.
"And....well, I sorta forgot my supplies." I confessed.
"Wait....you mean...?"
"My notebook and pencil...the two most important items to have on you during classes."
"Whaaaat!?" Everyone nearly screams.
"B-But there was a very nice Skylander sitting next to me who gave me some paper and a pencil so I could take notes." I added.
"Wow really?! How nice! And who is this Skylander by the way?"
"He said his name was Gill Grunt." I answered the asked question.
"Ooooh, so it's a guy?" Spyro smirked.
"I-Its not like that, I'd rather have a crush on Armin." I replied, annoyed.
"Who the heck is Armin?!" Stealth Elf questions whom just like the others, had no idea who this was.
"M-My favorite character! B-But either way I'm not interested in romantic relationships with anyone. I'd settle for making friends though."
"What if it was Armin?"
"Arrrrrgh!!!" I groaned before soon heading too my room after cleaning up my plate.
I immediately begin drawing at my table. Why is everyone so focused on romance for? I mean, not everyone needs to be in romantic relationships. I really don't understand the appeal. I would very much rather make friends instead of dating or marrying. Besides, you have more freedom when you aren't married after all.
But I drew for about two hours before studying my notes, and reading a book. After all of that, I fell asleep in bed, covered by blankets.
In several hours I would be waking up to another day at Skylands Academy...
* * *
It was the following morning, and I was surprised at what the day was like. No notes, barely any lectures. Today was a day of challenging ourselves to these Trials.
The trials were basically obstacle courses meant to help us Doge physically. And by Doge it can normally be by a random set of attacks. But there were also parts of the trial where we would have to jump over obstacles while sliding underneath some.
I practically failed since I wasn't used to physical exercises. Normally the only thing I do for my free time is read, write, draw and....day dream. I don't exercise much.
And if I want to graduate into a proper Skylander, one that can go on adventures and protect Skylands from danger, I'm going to have to make room in my set of hobbies for daily exercises.
I practically collapsed once I made it lastly to the finish line. Master Eon...he was...well, surprised. But Gill Grunt was kind and helped me up. I thanked him and from the corner of my eyes I could see Master Eon's thrown turning upside down.
He was probably disappointed with my failure in this particular Trial we had today, but he seemed relieved and glad to see how I was managing to make at least one friend while staying here.
Eventually the day at the Academy was over and I was on my way back to Spyro's house but I heard someone calling my name. I stopped in my tracks, turned around, to see Gill Grunt running after me.
He wanted to chat a little with me, which I didn't mind at all. But soon he asked about me at the Trials. He noticed how poor I did back there, which was a bit embarrassing.
I explain to him the reason I did so poorly but how I want to improve by exercising every day in preparation for when we do take on another Trial. He looked up to my goal saying it was a great way to fix my grade.
"Wait...you mean to tell me because I slipped up at the Trials, that my grade went down...?"
"Yep. Your A has now officially gone down to a C." Gill Grunt tells me sadly. "What?! Noooo!!" I cried out in horror.
"You know, I can always help you out with exercises. I may just seem like the brains of the class, but I know how to stay physically fit enough to pass the Trials. I may even be able to get permission from Master Eon for us to practice the Trials after the day is over. Just let me know if you are ever interested, alright?"
"O-Okay. Thank you Gill Grunt." I thanked the fish man. "It's no problem, helping fellow classmates out in the Academy is what Student Skylanders do." He grins before waving and bidding me goodbye till tomorrow.
I wonder... perhaps I should take Gill Grunt up on his offer to help me out in training. Doing so will probably have it's own benefits. And I wouldn't mind hanging out with him as well.
So the next several days after our classes are over, I ended up doing some training with Gill Grunt. Accepting Gill Grunts offer really did have it's benefits in the end.
