eddie left voice mails on richies phone for the rest of that night.
"richie. richie, i'm so sorry. i didn't mean to hurt you. i didn't. i promise. you know that. you know i wouldn't hurt you."
the younger boys words sounded slurred, yet so perfectly annunciated. richies fingers hovered over the call button. he debated it, before pressing the button and holding the phone to his ear.
"richie," a whisper said almost immediately.
"eds," richie whispered back.
"i'm sorry, i'm so so so sorry."
"it's okay, don't worry, it's okay."
"can you come over?" richie thought about it. it was late, almost one in the morning. he nodded to himself, before realizing that eddie wasn't there.
"this isn't a trap is it? it's just you?"
"no richie, it's not a trap. i just- i need you right now."
and that's how richie found himself climbing through the second story window of sonia kaspbraks house at one thirty in the morning.
as soon as he got through the window and into the house, he felt eddies arms wrap around him. he felt eddie sob into his sweatshirt. he wrapped his arms tightly around eddies back, letting his hand filter through eddies soft brown hair.
eddie sniffled and pulled away just a bit, looking up at richie. richie looked down at him in return.
"i'm sorry. " eddie breathlessly whispered.
"it's okay."
"no it isn't. i'm sorry i'm a bad friend."
"what?"
"richie, im sorry."
"eds, it's okay."
as soon as the word left richies mouth, eddie's lips were against his.
richie has been waiting since the seventh grade for this. all those years of waiting, and it was nothing like he had expected. it was better. kissing eddie kaspbrak made richie feel like he had a lived this long for a reason.
the kiss was soft and sweet. it was simple. eddie pulled away almost as soon as he had leaned in.
"am i dreaming?" richie said once they pulled apart.
"no. i mean, i don't think so." eddie whispered.
"oh. okay."
