if the pounding in eddie's head hadn't woken him up, the sound of music coming from the kitchen of richies shoebox apartment would have. it was obnoxious and booming, and eddie swore to himself that it was making his brain literally melt.
after trying, and failing, to block out the noise and light in the room with one of richie bed pillows, eddie finally decided that he would not be going back to sleep, and that he was just going to have to deal with the violent hangover.
rolling over, eddie threw the pillow to the floor and checked the digital clock that richie kept on his nightstand.
ten fourty seven am.
eddie groaned when he checked the time. he felt ill that richie could even be awake at this time, much less blasting edm music from his kitchen. eddie sighed and felt around in the sheets for his phone, only to come to the realization that it wasn't there.
eddie also realized that he was still wearing the clothes he wore out, and he reeked of alcohol.
eddie winced as his feet hit the cold wooden flooring. he started to walk towards the bedroom door, but paused to grab his phone off of the dresser on his way out.
it was almost dead, and had been flooded with messages from bev, worried about where he was and if he was alright.
"eddie? where are you? why didn't you call me?" bevs voice echoed through eddie's head loudly.
"hi, im sorry. i just woke up. i stayed at richies place." he knew she didn't care.
"okay? so why didn't you call me?"
"i didn't see until right now that you'd called."
"are you trying to give me an aneurysm?" eddie sighed into the phone. he was an adult. he was fully capable of taking care of himself.
"i'm sorry, bev. i didn't mean to not call."
"when will you be home?" eddie walked out of the bedroom, and made his way towards the loud music coming from the kitchen.
"soon, im gonna leave here soon."
"okay. just let me know when you're on your way."
"okay." eddie said swiftly, before ending the call.
"hi." eddie said over the music.
richie jumped slightly, before turning the music down almost completely.
"oh. hey."
"hey."
"did i wake you?" richie looked almost concerned. eddie knew he wasn't.
"no, no you're fine." eddie said, and it was the truth, since technically he hadn't.
"oh good."
the two stood in silence for a moment. not sure of what to say.
"so, you hungry? i made breakfast."
eddie shook his head slightly.
"no, i actually, um. bev is expecting me back, i promised i would go with her to a thing. so i've got to go."
"oh, right. um, let me show you out then."
"no it's okay, i can find the door." eddie put on a fake smile. he'd let himself out many times now. he knew how to.
"okay. i'll call you."
"sure. see you."
eddie walked out of the door, and down the stairs.
he was starting to notice a pattern.
every time he was around richie, eddie wanted to be anywhere but. he couldn't wait to leave. and he always wished that he'd never see him again.
however, the second that there was distance between them, the second eddie left, he longed for richie. he couldn't wait to see him next.
it felt mental. absolutely insane to eddie that his brain worked in this way.
but he couldn't help it.
he couldn't help feeling this sort of masochistic difference about richie.
he just wanted it to go away.
