Nervous

Darry and Soda finally got home. I wished that they would stay out longer, because I was dreading telling them.

It was hard enough for me to tell Johnny and I know it's gonna be harder to tell my brothers. Especially since some of my nightmares are about mom and dad.

The gang was here and that also worried me. I didn't want them to know what they were about. I didn't want them to think I was a baby if I broke down crying.

I know I can go into anyother room but they would still get suspicious. They would still ask questions. If they could tell something was wrong they would treat me differently.

"What did you all do today?" Soda asked going into the kitchen and getting a glass of chcolate milk.

"Nothing. We just stayed home all day. We mainly watched TV. Those two" Two-Bit pointed at Johnny and I. "wanted to stay home all day. Lazy bums."

I yawned. "Hey, in my defense, I didn't sleep well last night, and I'm tired."

"Yeah, you've been tired all day. I'm suprised you didn't fall all asleep hours ago."

"Yeah, but you would have just woken me up anyway. I know not to fall asleep with you around."

Two-Bit laughed. "Yeah, you don't want to make that mistake again." I few months ago I had fallen asleep on the couch. I was home by myself and figured I could catch up on some of the sleep I've missed. While I was asleep Two-Bit came in and grabbed some shaving cream and put it on my face. Then, I heard him running around the house screaming: "Santa Clause is here!" over and over.

That caused me to wake up. I went to rub my eyes and I got the shaving cream on my arm. Then I heard Two laugh. "I see Santa is awake."

That was the last I ever fell asleep alone. It's probably the last time I'm gonna fall asleep on the couch as well.

Johnny tapped my sholder. I turned to look at him. He looked at me and then at Darry and Soda. I nodded. I knew what he meant. If I didn't have Johnny here I probably wouln't even tell them at all.

I would be to scared. I just need a push in the right direction. Or in my case, a shove.

I got up off the couch. Johnny was about to do the same but I stopped him. "Wait here." He nodded.

I walked into the kitchen. "Hey little brother," Darry greeted.

"Hey, um..." I was playing with my hands, trying to calm myself down. I haven't even told them anything, and I'm already nervous. "C-can I talk to you two...in private."

Darry and Soda gave each other worried glances. "Sure. Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine... I guess. Um, can Johnny come too. He knows about this already and if I have trouble explaining it he can help."

"Yeah, that's fine."

We started walking into mine and Soda's room. I motioned for Johnny to follow. He stood up and followed us. We were about to go down the hallway when Steve spoke up. "Where are you all goin'?"

"In here to talk." Darry spoke. I'm glad he didn't say that I wanted to talk. They would probably ask questions when we were done. But they still might ask questions now.

We walked into my room. Darry shut the door and grabbed the chair I had at my desk and moved it so it was in front of Johnny and I. Soda leaned up against my dresser while Johnny and I sat on the bed.

We were quiet for a minute. "So what is it you wanted to talk about?" Soda asked, breaking the silence.

I took a deep breath. "My nightmares."
