"Less is more where more is no good"
- Frank Lloyd Wright

Laila smiled at her friends, while her mate wrapped his hands around her waist. They were discussing the fast approaching marking ceremony. Laila didn't put much thought into the events taking place in two months time instead she was focused on Spencer's hand creeping up her inner thigh.

"Just two months" he whispered into her ear, "Then I can mark you."

Laila tilted her head back inviting the soft breaths that caught her neck, inhaling his scent and thinking about what was to come. Her kinky dark hair was held up into a bun, her neck was not restricted.

"Are you thinking about us?" she nodded slowly, ignoring the group around her, paying all of her attention to Spencer and the lustful words escaping his plump lips "Are you thinking about me... naked?"

Spencer was eager he had been waiting a long time to bond and start a family, in a few weeks time he would have to wait no longer. He would soon be able to mate and become the Alpha his father always wanted him to be.

Laila nodded biting her lip low growls erupted from her chest anticipating what was to come.

Mya tapped Laila's arm and brought her out of her little bubble "I can smell you." She looked down blushing in shame. "It smells good" Spencer whispered into her ear.

Mya laughed as if she could hear what Spencer had said and continued engaging in a conversation between her mate and another marked couple.

Spencer and Laila had been paired since childhood, she was powerful and had inherited her gifts from her grandmother, the gene had skipped her mother. There weren't many people who could teach her how to control her abilities. She was one of many hybrids in her pack but no one could match the power that was budding within her.

"Don't worry," Mya said tapping Laila's leg. "You two will be mated in no time and I hope the time fly's by because I'm sick and tired of smelling you, Laila."

Poppy, Laila's other friend who is also the alphas' daughter, nodded her head in agreeance.

"I think we all can't wait until the mating ceremony."

"Come on." Spencer rolled his green eyes and pushed a hand through his blonde hair, ignoring his younger sister. "As much as I'd love to talk about my mate's scent all day, we all have things to do."

Laila held on to Spencer's tan face, the hair on his neck started to rise as her eyes turned blue, she stared deeply into his green eyes trying to understand what was going on in his head. Blurred pictures of her smiling flashed through her mind.

"Hey, can you stop that," he laughed.

"I'm sorry I can't help it."

"Then stop trying to get into my head," he whispered.
