16. parties & returns

Dylan POV

"you didn't have to do this" I said to Devyn as she handed me a drink. "of course i did" She smiled. I rolled my eyes. "Cmon let's go gets this party started!" She said grabbing my hand and pulling me out onto the dance floor. The DJ started playing music and i was honestly having a great time.

Then i looked over and Devyn wasn't there anymore. I decided take a break from dancing and made my way to the kitchen. I walked around trying to find Jake but he was no where to be seen. Then I was about to give up when i felt someone tap my shoulder.

I turned around and saw a face i didn't think i would ever have to see again. Ashton. "Can we please talk Dylan?" He asked with hopeful face. "Ashton why are you here?" I asked looking at his now realizing he was holding a present. "I just wanna talk" He said sadly. Then Colby came up behind me.

"Is he bothering you Dylan?" Colby asked. I looked at Colby and then at Ashton. "No" i sighed. "We'll be right back" I said flashing a smile at Colby who gave me a worried look as i grabbed Ashton's arm and dragged him to a quite part of the house.

"What ashton?" I asked crossing my arms. "Happy birthday" He smiled handing me a wrapped box. "You didn't have to get me anything" I said looking at my feet. "I know" He said quietly. "Why are you here?" I asked honestly. "I don't know" He started "I told myself i wasn't, that you didn't want me here, but i couldn't stay away" He said frowning. "Are you mad?" He asked looking up at me

I sighed and looked up at him. "No of course i'm not mad" I said a smile curled on my lips but quickly washed away. "I miss you" He blurted out. "It's weird sleeping alone" He frowned. Half of me wanted to grab his face and kiss him right then ad there, but the other part knew that this is how it should be. We would have never made it.

"I think this is for the best, ash" I frowned. "I know that doesn't mean i don't still love you" He smiled sadly. "I'll always love you ashton" I smiled. He smiled and looked up at me. "But i need to let go and so do you" I said. "I know" He said looking down "It's just hard" He said. I wrapped my arms around him.

Then i heard someone clear their throat. I let go of him looked over and saw Colby. "It's time to sing happy birthday" He smiled like a little kid. I laughed. "I think i'm gonna go" ashton smiled weakly. He looked at the box in my hands. "Open it, will you?" He asked. "Of course, bye ash" I half smiled. He nodded before walking out. We started walking back to the party. "You Ok?" Colby asked. I nodded.

He helped me onto the table. "Hey!" He yelled making everyone be quite. "If you didn't know it's this beautiful girl's birthday" He said looking at me. My cheeks turned a bright shade of pink. "Now were going to sing happy birthday and blow out some damn candles!" He yelled while everyone clapped and whistled.

They started to sing happy birthday and was standing awkwardly on the counter. I never know what to do when someone sings happy birthday to me. My eyes glanced across the faces of everyone while they were singing until my eyes landed on a couple in the back. I squinted my eyes to get a better look at their faces.

Until i made out the face of Jake kissing his girlfriend totally ignoring the fact that everyone was singing to me. I felt like i wanted to throw up and cry at the same time. The singing finally ended and i grabbed Colby's hand as he helped me off the counter. "You ok?" He asked. He saw it on my face. Something was wrong. "Yeah i'm fine" I lied nodding lightly. "Thanks for a great party colbs" I smiled kissing his cheek.

"I'll get the cake" He said turning red. He left going to get the cake when Jake walked up to me. "Hey i feel like i haven't seen you all night!" He exclaimed with a smile. Hold it back Dylan. Don't say it Dylan. "Yeah cause you've been too busy sucking face with your girlfriend all night" I lashed back. You said it. He looked shocked his mouth was basically hanging open.

"i'm sorry i i-" He started but i cut him off. "No no i'm sorry i shouldn't have said anything" I said feeling guilty. Then Colby came up and put a huge cake in my face that said 'happy birthday dyl!' then i felt someone shove my face into the cake. Luckily it didn't have lit candles in it. I turn around and saw Corey with a smile on his face. I laughed and grabbed the cake from colby and slammed it in his face.

I woke up the next day with my head pounding. I put my hand up to my forehead and looked around. I was in Colby's bed. I looked over and Colby wasn't there. "no no no no please please please no" I said to myself as i raced down the stairs. I saw Jake standing in the kitchen. Great. Just the person I wanna see right now. "Where's Colby?" I asked frantically. "What's Wrong?" He asked pouring milk into a cup. "Just answer the question please!" I yelled now starting to panic.

"He's outside" He said pointing to the back door. I ran out the back door and saw Colby outside vaping. "Colby Colby Colby Colby" I said as i ran up to him. "What what what what?" He asked laughing at me. "Please please please tell me that i did not lose my virginity to you last night" I said feeling like i was going to throw up.

"Oh shit, you were a virgin?" he asked. "Colby!" i screamed hitting him. "I'm only joking, no you just fell asleep in my bed" He said laughing. "Oh my God!" I screamed finally calming down "You scared the shit out of me" I said wiping my forehead. He laughed and took another hit of his vape. I took it out of his hands. "Hey!" he whined. "Don't you know this is bad for you" I laughed. "Ok mom" He rolled his eyes.

"So your really still a virgin?" He asked. "I don't wanna talk about it" I said turning red and walking back into the house.
