Brandon's POV

The front gates of the house began to open as I slowly got closer in the car, the sensor above my rear view mirror picking up the connection. Once I parked in the garage, I grabbed the two McDonald's bags that were full with breakfast and made my way inside. Our side garage door opened to the area behind the stairs. But as I walked passed the lavish bifurcated staircase, I just simply could not believe my eyes as I glanced at the arms of the stairs.

"Babe?!" I called through the house but had no response. That's all I could hear was some rustling noise coming from the living room. I took a couple steps to my right, walking into the living room. "Do you guys know what date it is today?"

Tana turned to face me with the biggest smile on her face once she heard my steps on the wooden floor. she knew exactly what I was going to say.

I continued. "The 24th if anybody bothered to check."

"And?" She replied, walking towards me and began to reach inside the McDonald's bag to start getting the food out.

"Don't you think it's a little early to start putting the Christmas decorations up?" I took a seat on the couch, and began placing all the items on the coffee table and the kids gathered around to see what they could have.

"No. It's never too early. If I had my way they would never have been put away from last year." She plopped down next to me and gave me a peck on my lips then grabbed her own breakfast. The first Home Alone movie was on the tv, and I couldn't help but let out a groan. I did enjoy Christmas, however to a certain extent. I was never in a hurry to start celebrating it earlier than was necessary. But Tana was the opposite, eager to be festive as early as was allowed.

"Have you seen how much tinsel is on the stairs?"

"No. Gunnar and Henry did it." The two boys then burst out giggling, obviously finding it hilarious with how over-the-top their decorating went. It was insane. There were red, green, gold, blue and white twirling down the arms of the stairs. "Is it too much?"

I nodded my head yes as I took a big bite out of my bagel.

"Good." Tana stuck her tongue out at me, knowing this was one of my least favourite things to do. With Christmas, that's all I really liked was the kids opening their gifts in the morning, which had started to become slightly later each year. Last year the kids woke up at a record breaking 6:15am, which was significantly better than previous ones. Spoiling Tana was something I loved about Christmas. And the dinner! Oh man, I was just obsessed with the dinner since Tana was the best at it, with the occasional little bit of help that I did.

"Is that why you sent me out to get breakfast? So that you could get all the decorations out?" I watched her from the corner of my eye as a smirk creeped onto her face.

"No."

"You're such a liar." I chuckled as did she. "Such a liar." I repeated. "Where else have you put stuff?"

"Uh, a couple of things in our room -" another involuntary groan left my mouth as it was full with breakfast. "The kitchen is done too." I couldn't help but role my eyes, which just made her giggle even more. "Put a smile on it."

I couldn't help but smirk as I sat next to her on the couch, bending my leg so that my knee rested on her thigh before digging into the McDonald's bag that was on my lap and pulling out the rest of the food I had brought home.

Like usual, there were cartoons on the TV as Tana and I no longer had any jurisdiction over what programmes we could watch anymore. We usually just waited until we went to bed at night where we could actually watch what we wanted. But for what would happen during the day, we were both totally accustomed to it by now.
