CLEO'S P.O.V
"So...all okay?" Eva cocked a curious brow at me. Her eyes scanned my face looking for any twitch or action but the only response I gave to her was the blinking of my eyes in bewilderment.
"Why wouldn't all be okay?" I tilted my head and regarded her with a sceptic gaze.
"Oh..nothing! Don't mind me" She let out a squawky laugh and I winced at the bird like sound of it. When she turned around to make a move to leave, I raised the book in my hand blocking her escape.
"I'm not done here, hun" I warned with an unsympathetic smile which caused her to gulp in surprise and agitation.
"Now tell me. With what intent did you ask me that question, hmm?" I rubbed my chin in thought and urged her with the slight narrowing of my eyes to answer my question when she took too long.
"Argh! Fine. I only asked you that because Kade dropped you home which means you guys were in the same car sharing the same space. I was afraid you two might have gotten into combat mode and teared each other apart. It was an honest concern on my part, dear friend" She squeezed my arm showcasing that honest concern she was talking about.
"You have an overactive imagination, Eva" I upbraided her with a scowl, shaking my book in her face.
"That is not a necessarily bad thing. Do you realize with this 'overactive imagination'-" She said heatedly quoting the words, "-I can become a wonderful asset to this world?"
I bit my lip to stop the laughter threatening to spill.
"Fancy elaborating your point, madame?" I goaded with a smirk and she bristled at the words.
"I. Am. An. Artist. What else can explain this great mind of mine travelling to explore the deepest, darkest parts of my soul and questioning everything I have believed in forever" She gestured at herself with wild gestures, her crazy wide eyes glinting with a hint of madness and a sinister grin on her face.
Why is she not an actress?
"Okay Eva-" I said clapping my hands and gratefully breaking whatever trance she was in. I don't know if I should be scared or relived as to how used to I am to her sporadic behaviour making me realize she is less of a human and more of a unhinged old woman with primitive and uncurbed tendencies.
"Time to head for our classes" I smiled and patted her head with extra force which she didn't like if her growl said anything.
"See you in the break" I called over my shoulder lightly, brushing past students blocking the hallway with their unwanted presence.
I groan when a certain individual's face comes into my view. He laughs as a result.
"I almost thought you didn't want to see me" Shane Marshall grinned, his eyes dancing with unmasked humour.
I fake gasped loudly. "You thought right, Mr. Marshall. How do you feel as your very first time finally figuring out that people hate you and utterly despise your existence?" I fisted my palm and used it as a microphone and used the other hand as a camera.
"I feel great. It means I'm human. Not everyone knows how to evaluate great worth" He clicked his tongue in disappointment and shook his head in sorrow placing a hand against his heart. "A shame truly, if you ask me"
"Which I didn't" I muttered with a slight scoff.
"I'm sorry but are you one of those annoying ones who think less of me or are you one of the wiser ones who understand and appreciate my greatness and the lengths I have gone to make this a happy world for my fellow human pals" He sniffed and looked at me expectantly for a reply.
