Things at home are awkward. Anne won't look in his direction, but honestly he doesn't mind. He's still mad at her for trying to throw Gemma's stuff away. How could she just throw away her pictures and clothes and books? It's all that's left of her and his mom tried to get rid of it.
School has been harder after the incident too. He didn't tell his friends, but they knew something must of happened. He tried to play it off and went to Niall's, finishing his project. It's the only productive thing he's done.
He's at his locker, stuffing his sweater and books into it, when he feels someone pat his back. He turns to see Niall's smiling face and he just nods his head at him.
"Hey, Harry?" Niall asks. Harry knows that tone. Niall uses it when he wants something and Harry sighs quietly before turning back to his friend.
"Hmm," Harry hums.
"So, there's a party tomorrow night-"
"No." Harry replies instantly. Niall pouts and looks down at his feet, shuffling awkwardly.
"It'll be fun," Niall tells him. Harry reaches in and grabs his books he'll need for the morning. He closes his locker and looks over at his friend.
"No."
He walks down the hall, away from Niall's sad face. He hasn't been to a party in months. Nothing about them appeals to him anymore and maybe it's because she died at a party or maybe it's because being around all those people will show him how much he's changed.
He finds his seat in the back and opens his notebook, waiting for his teacher to come. He's tapping his pen quietly and avoiding everyone's gaze. Why are people still looking at him like that? Can't they all just leave him alone?
His phone vibrates in his pocket and he quickly pulls it out. It's a text from Niall and he's about to not open it, but he does anyway. You never know what he could want.
From Niall: Please come!! You owe me for helping with the project
Harry just rolls his eyes and his fingers type out his quick two letter reply.
To Niall: no.
Harry slips his phone back in his pocket as the teacher comes into the room. She looks tired, her hair up in a messy bun and her blouse wrinkled.
"Good morning. So, tomorrow you have your review quiz. I'm going to let you study the notes we've taken so far and if you have questions don't be afraid to ask. As I said earlier in the week; this test is just to see what you remember from last year. You can work with other people, just keep noise to a minimum," she explains.
Everyone excitedly turns to their friends and Harry places his head down on his desk. He completely forgot about the quiz tomorrow. He's not too bad at math though, so he's hoping he'll do alright. He pulls out the small amount of notes he's taken and reads over them. Ms. Nelson comes around with a review sheet and Harry tries to finish it. He remembers half of everything and he wants to scream.
"Harry? How are you doing with the review?" Ms. Nelson comes over to check on him. He jumps at the sound of her voice and she's looking down at his sheet.
"You need to divide by two to finish this one," she instructs. He does as told and quickly circles the answer. Her eyes scan the rest of his page.
"You seem to be doing fine. I recommend you study a little tonight," she advises before walking off. He rolls his eyes and closes his notebook. He's done with this class.
The bell rings and he stands from his seat and rushes to the door. The halls are starting to fill up and he starts to walk to his physics class. His seat is next to Niall's in the middle and he finds the blonde boy there when he arrives. He sits down and Niall turns to him, his eyes big and pleading.
