7. Coming Back

Cole started driving slowly ahead and was soon out of my sight. I huffed and thought of calling Jessica again but I knew it won't be of much help. I called Alex instead. He still wasn't picking my calls, a part of me had started to worry about it. I hoped he was alright.

I saw a car approaching me. After a few seconds, I realized it was Cole's car. 'Is he really coming back for me?' I wondered.

It stopped in front of me and the window came down.

"Are you still planning on for waiting for your knight in shining armour to arrive or can you be sensible enough for a moment to get into the car leaving your bratty self aside?"

I thought for a moment. He was right, standing here wouldn't be a wise decision. I could not stand like this for long. My legs will give up soon. I don't think Alex will arrive here anytime soon either.

I took a deep breath and looked at him. He was looking cooly at me. Leaving my self-esteem, I walked to open the door. More accurately, I limped towards it. I tried to open the rear door of the car.

"There's some stuff at the back, you need to sit in front," he said.

I opened the front door and sat in the car. After all, Cole wasn't Alex that he would open the door for me. It made me value and adore Alex even more.

Cole started driving. We both didn't look at each other. It was better this way.

After some minutes, my phone rang. It was Alex. I quickly picked the call.

"Where are you? Is everything alright? Why weren't you answering my calls?..." I asked worriedly.

"Everything is alright, I had got caught up in some work and couldn't pick,"

"Oh...okay,"

"Where are you? Are you still waiting for me?"

"No... I am on my way home..." I said, carefully avoiding mentioning Cole as Alex had told me to stay away from him.

I felt something touch my hand. It was Cole's hand. It was tough yet so warm. He took it away in a jiffy and signalled me to not to mention him. I nodded.

"Okay, great! I'll see you soon," said Alex and ended the call.

I let out a sigh. I am not intending to hide it from Alex. I'll explain to him once I meet him. I don't understand why he disliked Cole so much. I took the opportunity of being alone with Cole to ask about it.

"What's between you and Alex? Why do you guys hate each other so much?" I asked curiously.

Cole seemed to be thinking something for a moment and then said, "Why don't you ask your boyfriend about it?"

I looked at him with an annoyed face. He couldn't answer one thing straight to me, could he? I shouldn't have asked him in the first place.

"I just wanted to know your side of things..."I said.

"Well, you shouldn't be concerned about my side of things,"

I nodded and rudely stated, "Absolutely right!"

I can never have a conversation with a person like him. I'm so done with it!

We reached the lane in which our houses were situated. As we came nearer to our places, I saw Alex's car out of my house. I froze.

"Oh shit! It's Alex's car!" I panicked.

"Relax! Do you want me to take a turn?"

"No...no...just quietly take the car to your place. He won't be able to guess it's yours or I'm with you. I'll manage something,"

"Okay," said Cole and looked at me with an expression that was hard to believe. Was he worried? But it lasted for only a moment, he broke eye contact with me and fixed his eyes on the road.

He parked the car at his place and asked me to wait inside it. He got out first and went to the wall that divided our houses. He was tall enough to be able to see above it. He looked around.

"What are you looking for?"A voice said in a sharp tone. It sent shivers down my body. It was from Alex.

Cole quickly moved next to his car and stood at the window of the front door where I was sitting with his back towards me.

"That's none of your concern, get out of my place right now..."Cole seethed.

"If you are trying to peek into my girlfriend's place. It definitely is of my concern," fumed Alex and took a step towards Cole threateningly.

"Dare take a step forward!" warned Cole.

"What will you do if I do so?" mocked Alex.

"I surely won't let you off as easily as I did the last time..." threatened Cole.

I quickly opened the door pushing Cole forward and went out of the car. Alex looked baffled and soon his expression turned into anger. I felt myself shaking but I composed myself quickly. There was nothing to be afraid about from Alex.

"Angel? What the hell are you doing in his car?" fumed Alex.

"Calm down, Alex! I'll explain you everything let's go home first," I confronted and tried to move a step forward. My left foot was throbbing with pain.

"I'll deal with you later," he hissed at Cole and strode towards me.

He held my arm firmly. His grip was too tight. It pained. He pulled me to start walking. I winced in pain and almost fell on my knees but didn't fall completely due to Alex's firm grip.

"What is wrong with you? Can't you f****** walk straight!" fumed Alex leaving his grip on me and I fell on my knees but took the support of my arms to avoid falling further.

"Watch your language!" snarled Cole and was lifting me up in a moment.

I had started to tear up but I tried not to let them spill. I didn't want to look like a cry baby in front of them.

"You... you dared to touch her!"

Alex snatched me from Cole's grip. I fell down again, this time on my face. He pounced at Cole. Cole threw a punch on Alex's face violently. Alex stumbled back onto the car by the sudden jolt.

Before he could balance himself, Cole punched him once again and his other hand slid on Alex's throat. I panicked and tried to get up. I reached Cole on my knees and pulled his leg with as much force as I could gather. He looked at me, his eyes were filled with rage.

"Please, leave him, please..." I pleaded.

A surprise update for you all!

I don't update this often usually though. I am trying my best to complete chapters till I have time as I'll be going on a break later this month. It would probably be from 23rd November to 15th December.

There would be no updates during this period. I have my exams and hence I need to study. I hope you all understand that :)
