In the next three days while I stayed home, recovering from the injury. I and Jessica tried our best to dig out information about Hunt's family and their business. We could not get our hands on any valuable information.

Alex used to come to meet me daily. I had forgiven him. Yesterday, while we were having dinner together, I asked him about his family. He spoke briefly about them. I didn't force him to speak in more detail as I didn't want him to get suspicious. I didn't bring up Cole anymore. I could not let my doubts which may not be true at all to affect our relationship.

I waved my friends goodbye after leaving university today. It felt so good to finally be back to my usual routine. My foot had healed. I saw Alex's car waiting for me so I rushed towards it. I glanced back at Jessica who winked at me. I gave her a little smirk and continued walking towards Alex's car.

As soon as Alex saw me, he got out of the car and opened the door for me. I planted a small kiss on his cheek before settling in.

"I am craving a chocolate mousse," I said.

"Okay, we will drop by Laslo's Cafe."

This was perfect. Jessica would have sufficient time to reach my home before me and set up the plan.

I reached my home with Alex. I took deep breaths as I walked towards the door. I was terrified of the things that awaited me at my doorstep. But it was a part of the plan, in order to succeed I had to do this. Alex walked beside me holding my hand.

I let out a loud scream as I reached the doorstep. A brood of termites was crawling there. I stumbled and ran away from the door. Alex quickly came next to me and wrapped his arms around me to calm me down. I was hyperventilating with fear.

The termites were a part of the plan but the fear was real. I didn't expect Jessica to put them there in such a huge amount. 'Where did this girl manage to find so many of them?' I wondered.

"I am not going anywhere near the door Alex!"

"Ssshh...let me see," said Alex taking the house keys from my hand.

He walked towards the door carefully avoiding the termites and leaned forward stretching his arms to open the door. He took a long stride to avoid placing his feet on the termites. He took two steps inside the house and then backed away.

His foot got placed on the termites behind him on the doorstep as he was too shocked to notice it. I controlled the urge to puke by imagining how many termites must have got crushed under his foot.

He shook his head and turned back to look at me. His face had turned pale. I had asked Jessica to put a few termites at the doorstep and inside the house. But the look on Alex's face said it all.
