Behind A Smile // Matt Espinosa

Day one - new kid .

" Adeliane ! " My brother yells from the kitchen .

" What the fuck do you want Tony ? " I yell back groggily since I just woke up .

" Get your ass off the bed you're almost late for school ! " He yells in responce .

I groan and get out of bed . I walk into my bathroom . Holy shit ! I look like a zombie ! All the sleepy-ness drained out of me as I saw my reflection in my mirror . I quickly ran over to my shower and turned it on . I began to take my pajamas off when my phone beeped . I walked over to it and saw I had a text from my ex-boyfriend , Jace .

' Babe , I'm really sorry ! How many times do I have to say it ! Just hear me out please ! I was drunk and she threw herself at me . Please give me a second chance . I need you . 😔 .

xx Jace . '

I rolled my eyes and tried to keep my mind off what happened 2 nights ago .

* Flashback *

" Chelsea have you seen Jace ? " I asked my best friend .

" Uh... I think he went upstairs . Try Masons room . "

" Ok thanks . " I frowned as I though of what could be happening in there . And with who .

As I reached Masons bedroom door I got this sickening feeling in the bottom of my stomach . I shrugged it off and opened the door . What I saw was beyond compare of what I though was happening . Jace , my boyfriend from 2 1/2 years was having sex with my best friend Jackeline . I stood there with a wide mouth . I couldn't believe what was happening . Jace , my boyfriend . And Jackeline , my best friend. Suddenly I felt tears welling up in my eyes . I pushed them back and opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out . Instead I looked at the two once more before turning around and running down the stairs and out to my car . As I ran I shoved everyone who was in my way . They gave me dirty looks and growled curse words but I couldn't care less . What I just saw was way worse . I dug out my keys from my bag and got inside and began to drive to my house .

* End Of Flashback *

I shake my head to try and get the horrid memory out of my head and begin to undress . I step into the shower and wash my body , hair , and shave my legs . Once I'm done I wrap my towel around my sun tanned body and step out . I dry myself and grab my DIY moon phase crop top and my favorite pair of blue jean shorts that go about mid-thigh . I walk back into my bathroom and blow dry my brown hair . I got Blone high lights this summer and I'm begining to regret it . It's killing the ends of my long straight hair and I don't plan on cutting it any time soon . I grab my curling wand and plug it in . While it heats up I grab my iphone out my night stand and reply to Jace knowing he will not stop texting me unless I reply .

' Jace , I saw what I saw . There is no excuse . I understand you were drunk . I would have accepted it if you only kissed her . But you had SEX with her . And she WAS my bestfriend . So I'm sorry but I don't see me giving you another chance . Pleade understand my decision . And please don't apoligize . I forgive you . I just dont want to date you anymore . Bye .

I set my phone down and walk back to my bathroom as I hear the curling wand beep indicating it's at the tempature I wanted it .

After about 20 minutes of curling my hair I grab my make up back and begin with foundation . I dont spread it all around my face . Only under my eyes and on my cheeks . Once I'm done I grab eye liner and manage to make a decent wing on both sides . I grab my mascara and put on about 2 coats just to make sure I didn't leave any eyelashes out . I apply a light pink blush to my cheeks and take one last look in the mirror and step out . I grab my phone and neon pink backpack and get out my room into the kitchen downstairs .

" I left some pancakes in the stove if you want to eat breakfast . " My brother tells me from the living room .

" Umm I'm almost late so I'll just go to starbucks and grab something . Thanks though . " I say as I walk towards the front door .

" Ok . Drive safe and be good in school dumbass . " He playfuly says . I pretend gasp and he chuckles .

" Thanks ass sucker . " I say and open the door and make sure to lock it behind me . I head towards my car and step in . I put the key in the ignition and head over to Starbucks .

Once I told the lady my order I pull up to the second window to pay and recieve my coffee and cake pop . The lady gives me my things and I pay her . She hands me the reciete and begin to drive to my school .

( 10 minutes later )

I park my car and get out . I lock it and walk to the front door where I see Jace and his friends . Jace looks over to me with sad eyes and I just walk past him and pretend I didn' see him . Don't get me wrong I miss him but I have to move on . He cheated twice already I'm 99% sure there will be no 3rd time .

I see Chelsea and Jia over by the cafeteria and wave . They wave back and motion for me to go over to them . As I get closer and closer I see a worried look on both of them .

" Whats wrong ? " I ask them

" Hey so Jackeline called us , " I scoff and roll my eyes " , she said to please tell you that it was all a huge mistake and that Jace forced her into it . "

" And you believe her ? "

" Well she hasn't been here since the party . She could be sick Addy . " Jia explains .

" Okay . I'll call her after school . "

" Kay . " The bell rings and I speed off to my first period class . The worst out of all . Chemistry . I dread that class now . Jace sits right next to me . Hopefully he read my text and will stop bothering me . Maybe .

I walk into the class and rush to my seat next to Jace . I pretend as if he's not there and keep a straight face and focus on Mr.Banks . Suddenly the door opens and Mrs . Olivar comes in with a boy . He had Dirty Blonde Hair , brown eyes and very nice biceps . You could see them through his guy tank top ( idk what to call those so imma stick with that 😂 ) . He looked like he just saw a ghost as he entered the room .

" And who is this ? " Mr.Banks asked the principle .

" This is your new student , Matthew Espinosa . Please take a seat anywhere you like Mr . Espinosa . " There were no seats left . Only one by me . Great . He is pretty cute and seems nice so this might not end too badly . He nodded his head and kept his eyes on the seat . He came over and sat in it . " Please make Matthew feel welcome in his new school and be nice to him . " Mrs.Olivar instructed us . We nodded and procceded on with the rest of the class .
