Bella's P.O.V
Today was one of those rarely beautiful days in Forks where the sun was out and there was no clouds in the sky. It was the perfect day for an impromptu visit to the beach. With school starting soon and this being the only day in the summer where the sun has come out, it's now or never. It's funny how we can plan a full day at the beach in less than fifteen minutes and not a group project with two weeks until the due date.
"Bella, you ready?" Alice called from downstairs for the fifth time in a row.
"I'm coming, goddammit!" I zip my bag up and toss it over my shoulder. "The beach is half an hour away and not going anywhere."
I skip my way down the stairs, going a third time through my mental check list. I have left a note for my dad, letting him know that I'll be at La Push today; I have my sunblock, bathing suit - which consists of a pair of shorts and my old Friends t-shirt -, phone and house keys.
"About time, you were taking forever!" Alice takes my bag and runs outside. "Get your ass out here, now!"
I roll my eyes at my best friend's impatience. If there's one thing beside shopping that she won't miss, is a day at the beach. I lock my door and run to the car, not wanting to give her any reason to beat my ass before we make it to the beach. Rosalie and Angela are already waiting in the back seat on their phones.
"Hi, girls!" I greet, pulling my seatbelt on.
"Hi." They both greet me without looking up from their phones.
"Everyone got everything?" Alice asks.
"Yes, Alice," we all say.
"We're not forgetting anything, right?"
"No, Alice."
"Because I'm not coming back."
"Alice, just drive!" I throw my arms in the air. "Seriously, if we need anything, we'll just tell Jacob and he'll run five minutes to his house to get it."
"Of course, Bella's boyfriend will always do what she tells him," Rosalie teases from the backseat. "She can literally tell him to eat mud and he will."
I roll my eyes at her stupid comment. Yes, Jacob likes to do what I ask him to, and yes, he does follow me whenever we're together, but it's just the way he is. He's Jacob. Ever since we were kids, he was always following me and doing what I asked at the snap of his fingers - his fingers, not mine.
Alice sets the car in motion. "Alright, let's go!"

The guys are already waiting for us by the time we make it to La Push. And by guys, I mean all of our respective boyfriends. Jasper - Alice's boyfriend, Emmett - Rosalie's boyfriend, Ben - Angela's boyfriend, and Jacob - mine, alongside some of Jacob's friends from the reservation and their partners that decided to join the group. I drop my bag on the sand, close my eyes and enjoy all the vitamin D the sun has to offer. I miss the feeling of the sun against my skin every day, a feeling I grew used to when I lived with Mom in Phoenix before she died. The sun, its warmth, followed by the sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks and the smell of the ocean are the perfect mix to bring a smile to my lips.
A smile that falters when a big shadow blocks the sun. I try my best to not make it obvious my smile has lost its sincerity when he wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me close to him, giving me small pecks on my lips, cheeks and neck in the process. He pulls away enough to meet me face to face, looking at me with those deep black eyes that tell me they love me.
"How are you, babe? You feeling better?"
"Yeah," I lie. "It was just a bad day yesterday, but I'm alright-great." I correct myself. "I'm great. Happy that the sun is finally out."
