Bella's P.O.V
This wasn't the way I thought I'd end the day. Not in a interrogating room, still wet and with only a thin blanket to keep me warm in this refrigerator of a room. If dad sees me like this, he'll flip. But I didn't have much chance to change into my dry clothes, soon after the man passed out, I was joined by the rest of the group, who were equally as shocked as I was. The guys carried him back to the main shore, where we waited for the ambulance to arrive. I think I was told several times by Jacob, Alice and Emmett to change, but I didn't have the mind for that. All I cared was to keep that stranger warm, preventing him from getting hyperthermia.
After the ambulance arrived, questions were asked, and once it was clear that none of us knew who this man was and that the injuries he sustained were most likely caused by an attack, we were all brought to the police department to be interrogated.
Officer Warner walks in after I've been waiting for twenty minutes to be interrogated. He takes a seat across from me and smiles, trying to lighten the mood.
"Where's my dad?" I ask.
"Filing the statements we got from the others, we just need yours," he said. "What happened?"
I shrug. "I don't know. We were there all day and no one saw him, he wasn't there. When we were about to leave, I went in for one last swim and out of nowhere he was there."
"And what did you do?"
"I swam toward him as fast as I could. I noticed he had blood coming out from his back and that he had a faint pulse, he also looked very beaten up so I performed CPR until he coughed it all out."
"Did he say anything to you? Anything before he fainted?"
"No, nothing... but he did say Izzy."
That catches his attention. "Izzy?"
I nod. "Yeah, he whispered her name and then... he passed out."
"And then after that?"
"Everyone else joined the party," I joke.
Officer Warner nods. "Alright, Bella. Thank you, we'll take it from here. You can go home now."
"Is he at the hospital right now?" I ask.
He chuckles. "Like he could be anywhere else."
"Who is he?"
"Not sure." He shrugs. "Perhaps once word gets out, someone will come to claim him unless he doesn't wake up first. But by the looks of it, it could be a while before he could open his eyes."
Yeah, it sure did look like it. I still cannot get the image of his eyes out of my head, it's been haunting me since he passed out. My dad takes me home not long before Officer Warner's interrogation ends. He was obviously upset by what happened, but proud of me that I used my CPR knowledge to save a life. He drops me off home in the cruiser and heads back to works, obviously to get a statement ready for the news about what happened. I get in the shower, washing off all the salt and dryness from my body and get changed quickly. It's completely out of question, I have to go see him.
There are reporters standing outside the hospital when I arrive. I rush in quickly, not wanting to be recognized or asked anything by them. Inside the hospital, I head straight to the register and smile at Mrs. Cope.
Her eyes lighten up at the sight of me. "Bella, what are you doing here, darling? You didn't fall again, did you?"
"Not this time." I force a smile. "I'm hear out of pure curiosity. I'm here to ask about the man that was brought in earlier tonight, the one found at La Push."
