The phone lit up the dark room. She anticipating the text, heart pounding in her chest.
"Nah, I'm up. Wah gwan?" He lied.
"Me ova Jason house, you can cum fa me? Or send a taxi?"
"Jason??? Me a cum" He sprang out of bed jumping in his pants with his swarny legs.
"Tanks (Hug) (kiss) Ur a life saver. Bff"
(Roll eyes) "Anytime. Whatever"
David hiss his teeth. Twice.
"Bff, man, I hate that word", he muttered. For a straight 'A' student you act real dumb sometimes. Your brain can tell yu how to find 'y' in di equation but you caat figure out that all Jason wah is fi pop your cherry? Yu caa realise I wah be more than your bff?". (Kmt) His thoughts raced.
The thought of Jessica's smile made his groin jerk. He glanced at the clock and a bolt of speed surge through him.

Mother Cain is gonna have a fit and

Thump thump thump....
Jessica jumped from daydreaming."J, sweet ting, me sorry. Wey yah do cry??"
"Go away Jason, I call David to come get me" She prayed he would hurry. She regreted coming to his house. Cursing herself for not going home when she learnt his mother wasn't home.
"Areadi? J, an it still early?" He sounds ready to bed.
"Sooo, me neva cum fi diss. Look wah yu do and yu still wah me stay?" Her stomach churn at what happened minutes before.
"Cho man, me neva plan it, but wah yu expect, me love yu enu. Can I atleast kiss yu before the taxi cum?"
Before she could answer they heard a car horn started tooting out front.
Jason jumped from the door when it opened and Jessica rushed past him.
"So yu really ago lef jus so? Alright whatsapp me when yu get home".
But Jessica was already out the door, avoiding his eyes and his outstretched hand.
In her hurry to escape she left the door wide open where David saw Jason alighting from the shadows to lean on the door post. Was that a smirk on his face? Or was he laughting? David couldn't tell because Jessica was alright in the car.
"Driva gwan" The door slammed.
"J, you ok?"
"Yeah, me good. As of now, call me Jessi or Jessica"
He didn't answer. She had that distraught look on her face and her body seem to be shaking. Her voice icy.
He placed a hand on her shoulder and she winced. David grew concerned but kept his distance.
They have been friends since primary school, and now within a week of graduating, he knew Jessica well enough to read her attitudes and actions, but tonight, she was different. She was quiet and cold.
The darkness was thick and only Mr. Murray's old car lighted the winding rocky road. The air was chilly and chrisp as the breeze from her window stings.
He eased back in his seat, listening as Mario, 'Friend' cooyed sweetly through the speakers. The song seemed to be mocking him and he wished she would at least glance at him.
1:12am and the small community of Top Hill was still and dark. The district is usually in bed by 7pm except for those who partied or roam the streets. Dogs howl as the moon hid behind fleeting clouds. Crickets and frogs made music like a choir.
