'Life is funny. It pieces things together like puzzle'.

'What do you mean?' Jessica asked, sipping on her soup. The evening out with David seem so surreal.

'I mean, look at us now, who would knew that the puzzle piece would bring us together?'. David watched as she enjoyed her meal feeling nervous with every bite.

'Ohh'. She swallowed. 'Well, God knows the end result of everything, we only play our roles so that it can unfold'. Jessica felt confident saying that. Knowing she is at a place where her past no longer hold her hostage.

'My mum use to tease me about you. She knew from day 1 that I liked you more than a friend'. David confessed.

Jessica felt her neck and temple growing hot. When she cocked her head to the left, he remembered how she would often do that to figure out a math equation.

'She was always saying that's your future right there. Just be patient'.

'Do think she was right?' Jessica asked frowning at her nervousness.

'My mum was never wrong'. He smiled.

They ate in silence. Glancing ever so often across the table at each other. They seem to know each other's thoughts, besides, communicating with their eyes made things a lot easier.

Three tables away, Sophia and Jason chatted. He has been watching Sophia all night. Basking in the moment.
Her engagement ring casting off miniature lights of glitter on the table when she fed herself.

Jason's composure was cool, suave and he was quiet but within him stir a storm he was unable to comprehend.
He sat in front his 'wife to be', enjoying his meal and the atmosphere but something seem amiss. He felt a brewing in his Spirit and he's still not able to place a finger on it.

'Babe, how you so quiet?' Sophia asked. Curious as to why her man barely said 3 words to her since they arrived.

'Nothing, jus a watch how me woman mek me a live like a king'. He sat back in his chair. One hand checking his waist for the glock and the other resting on the edge of the table, toying with his fork.

'You ain't seen nothing yet', she smiled.

'I wanda wah else you ave up them sleeve. Or better yet, up dem skin tight pants'. He smirked.

Sophia felt her inside moved. All she could do was smile.

As she sipped her wine, she glanced
up to see a familiar face heading towards their table.

'Jessica', she almost choked as the woman almost passed her.
'Is that you?', she place the glass down jumping to stand immediately.

'Sophie?'. Jessica recognized the voice immediately, 'Sophia it's you'. Both women hugged almost jumping like teenagers.

Jason sat up at the mention her name. Jessica. When Sophia stood to hug her, he stood up. The was surprised.

'Oh my God, gurl, it's been ages', they break the embrace with Jessica's back to him. Jason's heart began to race. 15 years and here she was. Tangible to touch.

At her table, David watched with a curious look on his face. A woman was hugging Jessica.

'No man, you look fine', Sophia said, forgetting Jason at the moment.

'Hi J', he interupted.

Jessica froze. It's has been over 15 yrs but she can never forget that voice. It boomed in her ears, and flashes of her past painted her face.

Sophia stiffened forgetting Jason in the moment and instantly regretted greeting her high school friend. The woman's expression was enough to send her running.
