"You doing better?" Craig asked me. I nodded and smiled. He gestured me to sit next to him and I did as he asked. We both said nothing for a few seconds, only the birds outside made noise. I wished to break the silence so I took a deep breath.
"Um.. Craig?"
"Yeah?" He looked at me and leaned back on my bed. "What's up?"
"What's so special about me?" I asked. His eyebrows rose so I clarified. "I mean, you're not this close with the others. Hell, you push everyone away.."
He snorted. "I dunno, you just have this effect on me."
"Effect?" I leaned back next to him. Our shoulders touched.
"You make me feel.. better, I guess. Safe and in place. Like we belong together." He looked away after his sentence. I felt myself turn red slightly.
"O-Oh, um, same!" I blurted out. "I like spending time with you."
"Hehe, I do too." Craig turned his head back to me. "Do you, by chance wanna go somewhere? It'll be my treat."
"I have money too." I replied. "You don't need to buy stuff for me."
"I get that you're strong and independent blah blah but shut up and let me be nice for once." He sat up and put his tongue out.
"You're always nice!"
"Well, not to everyone." He objected.
I huffed. "Fine. But I'll treat you next time."
He nodded and got up. "How about some pizza?"
"Pizza sounds great. I haven't eaten that much today anyways." I smiled and got up too. We put our shoes and jackets on. He helped me dress up. He's was sweet.
We went out, my parents were still working so I locked the door. As we stepped off the porch, he took my hand.
Wait, he took my hand?
"Erm.."
"Yeah, Tweek?"
I gulped. "Have you noticed that we've been holding hands lately?" I squeezed his right hand.
"What? No, we're no-" He looked down. We both stopped walking.
He looked at me with a mix of shock, confusion and embarrassment.
"How can one person not notice.." He started thinking. He still didn't let my hand go. "I don't... understand. Am I retarded?"
I snorted loudly. "I didn't notice either. I don't know but you still haven't pushed my hand aside." I stated with amusement.
He blushed deeply. "O-Oh, god. I'm sorry!" He let go of my hand.
"Haha, it's okay. I didn't really.. mind."
"Alright.." He said and we resumed walking.
We engaged in a nice and pleasant conversation. It was great, it didn't seem like either of us felt awkward at all.
We walked inside the pizzeria and sat down at an empty table. A waiter soon came and took our order. I asked for Coke and Craig asked for some Ginger Ale. We looked at the menu.
