It didn't take them too long to find me. About ten minutes. I was about to doze off on the freezing ground when I heard people running towards me."H-Holy shit..." I felt a presence next to my body. It must have been Stan. "Y-You really would have gone for it." He said with disbelief. gkuz
Kyle didn't waste time, he climbed on the tree, untied the rope on top and slid down the trunk smoothly. Meanwhile, Stan was still standing there, shocked.
"I just... after everything- why?" He asked with teary eyes. He knelt beside me.
"You don't know-" I coughed a bit "everything."
"This is not the time, Stan." Kyle interrupted us in a grim tone. He untied the noose part of the rope and folded it onto his shoulder. "It's very cold. Can you carry him, Stan?" He asked softly.
Stan just nodded and crouched in front of me. "Climb."
I obliged silently. No one spoke on the way out of the forest. Stan sighed here and there, Kyle kept glancing around, worried we'd be seen and I was there just... doing nothing, being carried.
Is this how it will always be? Will I always get rescued? Will I be presented with hope and new friends all the time? If yes, why can't Tweek have that instead? I don't deserve this amount of luck.
Stan was carrying me delicately. He made sure not to trip or take a wrong step. We eventually got out of the woods and Kyle took his phone out.
"Alright, I don't know the fastest way to the hospital, but-"
"N-No." I pushed the letters out.
"No?" Kyle raised his eyebrow.
"This is... enough. I'll manage."
"Like hell you will!" Stan exclaimed loudly. "You can barely talk!"
Kyle nodded at Stan's comment. "If we were to leave you here, you couldn't do anything. You can't move, Craig." He explained. I looked away in shame. I don't like it when people help me. I don't like to owe people.
Kyle looked the destination up and we started walking that way. As we approached the hill the hospital was located on, my phone started ringing again. I was about to check it but Stan -while almost dropping me- took it out of my hand.
"And that's mine now." He said and picked up. "Hello?"
I didn't hear who he was talking to.
"Hey, yeah, you have the right number. No, I'm Stan- no I didn't steal his phone- Clyde, lay off." He groaned.
I chuckled weakly. "Can I?" I asked.
"Fine." Stan rolled his eyes and handed me my phone.
"Clyde?"
"Oh my god! Are you alright? What happened? Why did STAN pick the phone up?!" Clyde's worried questions overwhelmed me.
"Well um, I'm okay. He took the phone out of my- my hand." I managed to hold a cough in.
"Dude, I'm so sorry for bombarding you today..." He sighed into the microphone. "It was not smart of me."
Well, what is, Donovan? Hehe.
"It's okay. I'm not mad, I just-" Now, I really started coughing. Stan set me down on the ground while Kyle pat my back. "I just-" I wheezed. "Fuck. So I needed to be alone."
"What's wrong?! Are you sick or injured? Both?" Clyde shouted into the phone.
Kyle took the phone out of my hand.
"Heeey, Clyde." He said. "Calm down- no I'm not giving him back."
Stan helped me up and started carrying me while Kyle handled Clyde.
"He just slipped and fell, that's it. It's winter. The hospital. No, you shouldn't- don't come. We got this." Kyle pinched his nose. "Look, we just arrived, gotta go buh-bye." He hung up instantly.
"Damn, he is very persistent." Kyle said and handed the phone back to me. As we walked inside, he looked around and went to the receptionist.
Stan put me down on a small bench and sat next to me. I had a feeling he would start to talk.
"You wanted to... oh, my god." He buried his face into his hands.
"Chill, I'm okay."
Stan scoffed. "Hah, 'okay'. Why would you even do this, Craig?"
"..." I glanced at Kyle. He finally told what was up and now people were rushing towards me. "I'll tell you sometime." I said.
He didn't have a chance to say anything because the staff lifted me and carried me away on the hospital bed. I started to lose the grasp of reality when I didn't see the guys anymore.
My body started hurting altogether. I started groaning in pain, shaking my body and rocking my head. The nurses held me down firmly.
"He's septic." One of the doctors breathed out in a hurry. "Take him to OR2. I'll need my team there." He said to a nurse and that nurse ran away quickly.
What the hell is septic? I guess I should have paid more attention on Biology. Do we even learn this? I don't know.
My eyes started closing slowly. Is that septic thing severe? Am I dying right now? I guess I'm about to find out.
Just in case: Goodbye.
