Now That We're Done

Talie's POV:

I carefully wiped away the black make up around my eyes that had run off. Kuza had never done that before and it had never been for forced. I wasn't mad at him and I didn't mean to slap him so hard. I couldn't control it. Him doing that made me feel angry and used. I took a deep breath and pinned some more of my hair up.

I opened the door and walked back towards my section of the gallery. There were more people there than when I had left but two were missing. I scanned the room for Chris but found no sign of him or Sabrina. As much as it hurt to see him with her, at least he was supporting my work.

"Natalie," a familiar British accent asked.

I turned around and saw Kyle standing there, looking the same as he had when we were together. "Kyle," I breathed.

He gave me a genuine smile and pulled me into a hug, kissing my cheek at the same time. "You look incredible."

"Thanks," I whispered as I looked down to my shoes. "So do you."

He chuckled and hugged me again. "Oli said you moved back. I uh, missed seeing you around."

"Kyle, I am so sorry about what I did to you," I muttered as I briefly looked into his eyes.

"Do you regret leaving me," he asked.

I looked up at him and looked at the expression on his face, it was serious. I looked around and my eyes fell on Ricky with his arm around Sarah. I then found Kuza chatting with some girl in the corner and then last, my eyes focused on Chris who looked down right miserable. His eyes gazed back at me and he gave me a weak, fake smile.

I sighed and took Kyle's hands. "Oh Kyle, you wonderful man."

"Uh oh," he chuckled. "I know what that means."

I gave him an apologetic look. "I'm so sorry. I liked you a lot. I just dove into the relationship too quickly. I never fully recovered from the first man I loved."

"The guy that Oli was talking about?"

I shook my head. "No, the one before him."

"Oh," he whispered. "Well, we had a show here and I just had to come check this out when Hannah told me about it. You're talented. You could do anything you wanted."

I hugged him tightly and kissed his cheek. "It was great seeing you, Kyle. And I'm sorry I couldn't give you the answers that you were searching for." I pulled my chain necklace out from underneath my hair and the top part of my dress. I unhooked it, on it was a dazzling engagement ring. "Here," I whispered.

"No no, you keep it. As a memento," he replied quickly. "I can't take it back from you. I don't regret proposing at all. That ring symbolizes a commitment I was willing to make. I still love you, Natalie. You were truly amazing. I want you to keep the ring,"

He hooked it back around my neck and kissed the ring before pressing his lips against mine.

"I know you've already received a surprise kiss tonight, but consider that my goodbye present," he chuckled.

I hugged him tightly before I watched him leave. I sighed and tucked the ring back to where it was previously. I took a deep breath and walked back towards the majority of my guests.

"I notice a lot of these people are here tonight," one woman said with a bright smile. "You have an amazing talent."

"Thank you," I replied, returning her kind smile. "They're all very important to me."

We made casual conversation before I continued to meet the people interested in my art. Finally I was back with my core group of friends. Sarah still hadn't said a word to me since she found out about Ricky but I know she hates me. All she did was roll her eyes whenever someone complimented me. I don't understand how someone that was supposed to be my best friend could just give up on me.
