What You Took From Me Wasn't Worth Anything

As I approached Jeremy's studio I grabbed the door for Angelo so he could walk right in. I stopped by the mirror in the main entrance and examined my appearance. I've become more self conscious since I moved to California. I looked better since I left Scranton. I was wearing a cropped black shirt that said "Bitch Craft" and some high waisted crimson shorts. I wore my favorite combat boots and sunglasses. My hair was long and wavy and I had a fringe, it was new but I loved it.

"You're so vain," Jeremy's familiar voice chuckled.

I looked over my shoulder and grinned. "Hey stranger!"

I hugged him and followed him back to the area he usually works in. "So how've you been," he asked as we walked down the hall.

"Busy," I laughed. "But good. Busy and good."

He patted my shoulder as we walked into where Angelo was setting down all of my stuff. "Is that Angelo Parente?"

"Hey man," Ange mumbled as he gave him a wave.

Jeremy had a massive grin and started laughing. "Man you guys are going to love who I'm shooting!"

I shot Ange a worried look but all he did was shake his head. I bit my bottom lip and started scratching at my wrist. "Who are we shooting," I asked quietly.

"Motionless!"

What little color I had completely drained from my face and I felt my body go stiff. "In White?"

"The one and only!"

At that exact moment I heard Chris' laugh fill the air before he walked in with all the guys. The girlfriends trailed behind them, talking quietly among themselves. I frowned as they all stopped and looked at me. It was too late to run away and no one was saying a word.

"Nice to see you, Nat," Kylie chirped, moving from her place to wrap her arms around my small frame.

I hugged her back for a minute before reverting back to being the shy loser. "It's uh, nice to see all of you," I whispered.

"You all know each other," Jeremy asked with a large smile. I nodded. "Excellent. Nat is going to be doing your hair and make up!"

Sarah and Sabrina rolled their eyes before they started whispering to each other, sending me dirty looks in the process. I sighed and looked around for Ange but didn't see him. "I'm just going to check on my assistant," I muttered before disappearing into the back room.

"How do you guys know each other," I heard Chris growl.

"We've done some shoots together and I'm good friends with her sister," Jeremy replied quietly.

I heard someone else ask something and get cut off by Ricky. "How is she," he asked. "Is she good? Does she have a boyfriend? Is she happy? Is she healthy?"

My heart fluttered at his concern. "Don't do this, Talie," Ange warned.

"Do what?"

"Don't get sucked back into them," he clarified. "I can see it in your eyes. You'd run back to them if they let you. And trust me, they'll let you."

I rolled my eyes and went back to concentrating on their conversation. "I think she's been good," Jeremy replied. "I mean, obviously I'm not too invested in her personal life but from what she's told me, she's happier out here."

"Oh," Ricky muttered.

"And as far as I know, there is no boyfriend. But Angelo's here with her and they seem pretty close. Don't know if that's anything. Again, I'm really only interested in her work, she's damn good."
