coupable / kupabl / noun.
in english : guilty
meaning : culpable of or responsible for a specified wrongdoing."If Namjoon refuses to help us with this case, then how are we going to get him arrested? We need someone professional to arrest him, you know?" Seokjin asked.
"Don't worry I've got it covered."
*******
"This is ridiculous," the ghost deadpanned. before him was Minseo, dressed in a policewoman's uniform. The shirt seemed to fit but the pants were clearly too long for Minseo's short legs.
God it hurts to be short.
"I found it thrown under Namjoon's bed a few weeks ago. I always knew he and officer Soo Yin had something going on! They've been eye-fucking each other since day one"
"Oh my god you mean the Lee Soo Yin? She and Namjoon have been fucking since last year! He can't stop talking about her, it's annoying really."
Minseo just rolled her eyes thinking about Namjoon and her boss. It was disgusting for her honestly, but that's the dorky Namjoon everyone loves.
"Where did you get that badge from?" Seokjin questioned, referring to the police force badge she had pinned on her shirt.
"Namjoon always had extra badges. Y'know, just in case he loses some. He left this that night in the computer room, like right on the counter."
"Pffft Namjoon oh my god I swear that guy loses all his possessions. I wouldn't be surprised if he accidentally gave his ID to someone else."
The two of them laughed at clumsy, forgetful Namjoon. Despite having a high IQ and being one of the best leaders in this generation, he is a hell of a mess when it comes to organizing, not losing important shit, and being careful.
"Do you know that he can't even properly chop onions?"
"Omg yes yes and they end up looking like a bunch of polygonal-shaped white blocks!"
"Someone needs to knock his head back into place."
******
The two drove over to Park Jung Hyun's house in the afternoon. The drive to the Parks' was silent except for the upbeat radio music that somewhat annoyed minseo but spiked up Seokjin's energy. The ghost was very very chaotic in his movements, jumping up and down like a 7 year old kid, screaming all the lyrics of the song with his whole CHEST and having the time of his life.
"HIT U WITH THAT DUDUD-"
"WILL YOU SHUT UP FOR ONE SECOND I'M DRIVING," Minseo ordered, then changed the radio station to something slower and mellower. Seokjin sulked and shoved his pouty face and puppy-dog eyes in her face.
He's so cute. she should've felt agitated at this point, but her heart couldn't help but squeezeeee at this adorable being.
Yoon do Hyun's "Autumn by the Post Office" was playing and echoed in the small confined space of her car. This song holds a very sentimental value in her heart. It was the song her dad would hum during breakfast to her mother before rushing off to work. It was the song her dad would sing to her before bedtime to lull her into deep, sweet, sleep. It was the song her dad would listen to in the car as they drove at night through the silent streets illuminated by the row of dim lamp posts.
"You know this song?" Minseo choked out as fresh tears started to leak.
"Yeah, Autumn by the Post Office. I've sung it before with my friends."
"Can you please sing it for me?"
"Yeah um sure. Don't judge."
Seokjin started to sing the song, in-sync with the radio music. What was his voice like? Was it silk? No. More like butter. Clouds and clouds of butter that layered on top of each other and showered the world with warmth. His voice was like a hug that wrapped around minseo's petite body, his voice was a silent hymn during autumn that tainted the leaves in an array of warm hues. The brightest orange, the warmest yellow. His voice was a sincere smile, a light giggle of a baby. His voice was the tumultuous wind during a thunderstorm. His voice held so much love and so much pain at the same time that it could touch anyone's soul.
When it was finished, Minseo was already tearing up. As tears silently rolled down her cheeks, Seokjin saw how broken she was internally.
Am I really about to leave the girl who's already broken?
But like the positive person he is, he decided to lighten the atmosphere with a small joke.
"Was I that bad?"
"Hahaahahhaa no."
It worked!
Minseo was laughing and crying at the same time, but of course more laughing. She wiped away her tears and took in a deep breath.
"Surprisingly, I like your voice, you actually don't suck," Minseo smirked at the ghost.
"Thanks for the compliment," he shyly nodded. Internally, he was overwhelmed with joy. Not at the fact that she just praised his singing skills, but actually at how her face lightened up when he joked about his singing skills. After seeing all his loved ones left torn because of his death, because of him, it was refreshing to see that he could make someone happy. Even if it was a really small thing, it still meant a lot of him. When he was alive, he was always the one to bring a smile onto everyone's faces, making others happy directly made him happy.
The car ride was mostly silent, except for a few hums that Seokjin quirked up just to make minseo feel less stressed.
It's not everyday you have to pretend to be a detective and detain someone.
As they drove up the Park's residence, Seokjin could feel Minseo's heartbeats reverberating through the cushions.
"Here goes nothing."
