trahison /tʀaizɔ̃ / noun.
in english : betrayal
meaning : the action of betraying one's country, a group, or a person; treachery."What were you doing the night of Kim Seokjin's death Mr Park?" Minseo questioned sternly, raising her glasses a little bit and putting her left arm on her hip. The questioning room was cold and silent except for a few sniffs and chokes coming from Namjoon who still wasn't in the best emotional state. Minseo directed the table lamp onto Mr Park's face, attempting to intimidate and force the truth out of him. But all she was doing was getting him blind. He would not relent.
"I told you! I was sleeping. Alone."
"Do you have an alibi?"
"Again, I was alone."
"Why are you lying, Mr Park?"
Mr Park sighed in defeat. "I don't know how to convince you but I really didn't kill Seokjin. Why am I even dragged into this in the first place?"
"Mr Park, we have a footage of you driving by Greyhound Street at 11:37pm. You've been lying to us," Minseo said, while taking out pictures of that night to show him.
Mr Park's face instantly darkened. His breaths started to quicken along with his palpitating heartbeats. His eyes were wide as he swallowed, trying to calm himself down.
"Ok, I admit. I wasn't alone that night. And I wasn't sleeping. I lied. but I didn't kill seokjin."
"If you didn't, who did?"
"I DON'T KNOW!" he yelled.
"Mr Park, I'd like to request you to remain calm," Namjoon piped up.
"Just tell us what you were doing if you didn't kill him."
Mr Park sighed again, closing his eyes with frustration and a tinge of regret.
"Look...I was..."
"You were...?"
"I went to another's house, ok?"
"Who's house?" minseo asked.
"Kang Jee Ae. Look, I'll give you the address and everything. Just pleaseeee don't tell my wife," he begged with a face of distress.
"You're cheating on your wife?!" Seokjin exclaimed.
"Wait, you're cheating on your wife?" Minseo asked.
"I was. But I broke it off with her already, I swear. Just please don't tell my wife."
Namjoon and Minseo were both disgusted, looking to the ground and shaking their heads. Saying Seokjin felt pissed was an understatement. that guy was red. Jimin doesn't deserve a father like him, an abuser and a cheater.
"You son of a bi-"
"Hey, Seokjin, calm down," Minseo pleaded with her beautiful doe-eyes, cooling Seokjin down a little.
"I should go check in with the alibi," Namjoon said while walking out.
******
"Yep he's free to go!" Namjoon said, "told you it was useless."
"You're really not helping us, are you?"
Namjoon just kept quiet and averted his gaze to his computer, trying not to make eye contact with minseo.
"You know who the killer is, don't you?"
"Some things are meant to be kept secrets, minseo. I love Aeokjin, and I miss him with all my heart. But I can't do this."
"Why? How can you do this to Seokjin? He's your bestfriend! He'd do anything for you! And you're just going to let him die in vain? You don't want to help him get justice."
"Minseo please stay out of this. Just- just shut up!" Namjoon shouted with guilt.
"Minseo, it's ok. I don't want to force him to do what he doesn't want to," Seokjin said. seeing his bestfriend like this hurt him, and he knows Namjoon has his reasons.
"No, it's not fair!" Minseo fought, eager to find out what Namjoon has been hiding all this while.
"What are you hiding, Namjoon? Who are you trying to protect?" she asked desperately, face stricken with fresh tears she never knew she had.
Heavy footsteps echoed behind them, like bullets ricocheting of walls of a warzone. It was someone seokjin never thought of seeing so soon again. His presence instantly brought a smile to Seokjin's face, Seokjin missed him so much.
"Jimin-shii!" Seokjin exclaimed with a bright, earnest smile, but he was again reminded by the fact that he was a ghost who couldn't be seen or heard.
Jimin's face was solemn, laced with remorse and guilt as he walked up to minseo and namjoon. His eyes skittered as he tried to remain focused on what he was about to say. His fists were clenched and he pinched the ends of his sweater repeatedly.
"Me," he finally choked out. "Namjoon's trying to protect me."
Minseo and Seokjin's eyes widened with shock. Appalled, their jaws dropped and their breathings stopped, still trying to process the unbelievable truth. Namjoon just looked away in defeat, feeling like he just failed someone.
"I killed Seokjin."
