Every heartbeat seemed to reverberate with immense magnitude under Minseo's chest. Was it anxiety? Or was it something of the unknown. A tumultuous snow storm of tension eased its way into Seokjin entire frame, rendering him helpless and anxious yet knowing for a fact what this meant. And what Mr Lee's words held.

Pain.

Their timer had stopped ticking. And sadly, the rewind button was dysfunctional. He had been lucky enough to witness their flourishing relationship blossom into a pure love, only to have this puzzle piece ripped away from his hands, now he's incomplete.

Seokjin carried Minseo up bridal style, gripping onto her arms firmly as if she was going to dissipate into thin air at any moment from now. Etched with a look of confusion on her face, she relented and allowed herself to be sheathed in his comforting embrace, despite the conflicting argument they had just a few moments earlier.

Although she did sense uneasiness in him, she ignored the thought and wanted to believe that everything was going to be okay. Nuzzling her head under his chin, "go," she said, and they teleported back to the hospital ward.

The beeping of the heart monitors launched the room into full on chaos as doctors, nurses in white and blue scrubs fled into the room at lightning speed, all desperate to save the life of a young female. Minseo's mother who was shooed out a few seconds ago stood in distraught and gazed at the turbulence through the transparent glass door. Seokjin and Minseo took time to adjust to the surroundings and get a grasp on what's going on.

"Steer clear," reprimanded the doctor as the nurse placed the defibrillator against Minseo's chest. A shock of stinging pain crept up Minseo's glowing chest as the defibrillator shot up electricity through her body.

"Ow!" she screeched in pain.

Seokjin panicked and didn't know what to do. How should he revive her? Kiss her? Pinch her? Force her to choose?

The defibrillator striked again with no sign of improvement according to the heart monitor. The doctors shook their heads and sighed in vexation.

"Ow! Seokjin it hurts! Make the pain stop, please..." Minseo said weakly, clutching onto her chest. Her body howled with agony, begging for an attempt to alleviate the torture.

Seokjin ached to see her in pain as well. Looking at her suffer and twitch in his arms in pain. Even his benevolent embrace couldn't transfer the slightest bit of warmth to her that she needed.

But at this moment, staring at her misery, he had an epiphany.

Her physical body is connected to her spirit, maybe that means that to stop the pain, the two must merge to become one.

A heavy debate erupted in Seokjin's mind. This would be the last chance to save Minseo. To save the love of his afterlfie. The love of his life. No turning backs, no regrets, no more seeing her.

No more late night walks and pillow talks, no more climbing trees and trying to touch the sky. No more sloppy kisses and tender cuddles, no more holding hands and looking into each other's eyes.

This would be the last goodbye.

With a heavy heart, he descended his face to look into Minseo's eyes one last time, oh how many stories they could tell. He gave the suffering girl a reassuring smile so that she felt safe, it was his job after all. He quickly gave her a peck on the forehead, another one on the cheek, and a longer one on her lips. They locked lips just for 2 seconds because he really didn't want to get carried away and end up not being able to let go. "I love you," he whispered oh so silently that even she couldn't hear.

"What's wrong?" Minseo asked.

"Nothing. I'll help you stop your pain, trust me okay?"

"Okay."

Seokjin carried Minseo over to the hospital bed where her physical body laid still, just seconds, milliseconds away from death. He propped her on top of her body gently and caressed her hair. Everything was the same until her glowing chest slowly dimmed, her eyelids felt heavy, and the heart monitor went back to normal.

"Seokjin wh- what's happening......" she said drowsily.

"Nothing love, sleep," he said while fingering though her smooth strands.

Minseo fell asleep on accord, barely noticing the tears that bubbled under of Seokjin's eyes, or the extra peck on her forehead, or the 2nd "i love you" whispered to her that night.

Author's Note

I've decided to extend the last chapter because......idk. I apologize for my hiatus. Recently exams are well, ha. My english paper is actually tomorrow so I'm writing as practice I guess. However I did try to update as fast as possible, but under all that stress I was worried that whatever I produced would be shitty and no one likes a shitty ending. Oh yeah fantome won a few awards recently so i'm really thankful to all my readers for motivating and supporting me. Till next time!
