*Katie's POV*
When Alan and I got back to the Frog's comic book store, Edgar was just coming out of the back room. He nodded to us as we both came up to him. Underneath his arms he held a couple boxes filled with new comics to put out.
"Good timing." He greeted his brother and I. His eyes flickered curiously down at our hands that were still intertwined.
Alan and I glanced down at our hands, following Edgar's stare and both turned a shade of pink. Hesitantly, we unlocked our fingers and Alan quickly took one of the boxes from his brother, going to go stock them. When he walked away, I held out my hands to Edgar, offering to take the other one.
He raised an eyebrow at me.
"You know where these go?"I smirked as I grabbed the box from him.
"I'll figure it out."This made Edgar chuckle slightly as he watched me walk over to a shelf to put out the comics. He mumbled under his breath, thinking I couldn't hear him.
"Not bad, bro."
I think I was finally starting to grow on him.Smiling to myself, I knelt down in front of the shelf and began putting out the comics. This was all I focused on for the next five minutes, not paying too much mind to anything around me. That is, until Alan came over to me. When I glanced up at him, he gestured to the front of the store. I stood up and followed his eyes, seeing that he was looking at someone who'd just walked into the shop.
A boy, probably around our age - he had short, blonde hair and light blue eyes. His clothes consisted of a long, striped, gray jacket over top of one of the loudest shirts I've ever seen with the collar on it turned up, jeans and white sneakers. He was cute, in a baby face way, if you could get past the fact that he looked like a rainbow had thrown up on him.
I glanced back over at Alan, who did the same to me.
"New in town?""You catch on fast." Edgar commended me, coming up behind his brother. The two of them shared a look then and Edgar nodded.
"Ready?"I flickered my eyes back and forth between them, realizing a few seconds later what the bandana-wearing boy meant. They were about to do the same thing they'd done to me the first time I came in here; activate creepy stalker mode.
I put my hands up to both of the brothers, hoping to stop them briefly.
"Wait...can I try this one?"They both looked at me a bit stunned. Alan raised an eyebrow.
"You want to approach him first?"I smirked, not being able to suppress a laugh as I stared back at them.
"I think it'd be a little less creepy if I went first, since he's a boy. You two are cute, but I don't think he'd feel as comfortable with two guys watching him from across the store, rather than a girl coming up and talking to him first."
The boys both thought about this and finally nodded to me, agreeing. With this, I turned to go approach the new kid, but paused when I saw his outfit again.
"Course, with those clothes, I could be wrong."Alan and Edgar both snickered at my remark before going to take their positions in the shop. Meanwhile, I took a breath and made my way towards the boy, who was currently over by the Batman comics. He was just perusing over all of them, but turned to me when I got closer. His eyes grew slightly wider.
"Looking for anything in particular?" I inquired, offering him a grin.
The boy smiled at me, shrugging his shoulders.
"Kind of, just mainly browsing at the moment though."I glanced over at the shelf he was looking at briefly and then back at him again.
"A Batman fan, huh?"His face lit up a bit at the mention of the character. He nodded.
"Yeah, I've read them all. You know anything about them?"
