The next morning I slept in way later than normal, finally waking up at around 1:00. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, groaning as I stretched to wake up my muscles. God, I was surprised I'd even slept at all last night...

Getting out of bed, I took some clothes into the bathroom for a shower. Today I wore a low-cut, black, tank top underneath a red and black flannel shirt, short, jean shorts and my hair down. I put a bit of eye shadow on today along with the makeup I usually wear, hoping to hide how run down I felt. After finishing getting ready, I went downstairs to the kitchen and found a note from my mom on the counter.

"Made you a bacon and cheese bagel for breakfast, it's in the microwave! I work late tonight, hope to see you later so I can hear all about your day! I love you! -Mom-"

I smiled and went over to the microwave, pressing a few buttons on it to heat up my breakfast. Once I took it out, I ate it as I left for the boardwalk. I chose to just walk down today. That way if Alan offered to walk me home, I could say yes!

About fifteen minutes later, I arrived at the comic book store, slightly out of breath. After I'd eaten my bagel I decided to run the rest of the way, partly out of fear and partly because I wanted to get to the shop fast to tell the brothers what happened. I stopped and bent over to catch my breath at the store entrance, heaving in air. From the back of the store, Edgar and Alan saw me like this and came running over, one looking a bit more concerned than the other.

"Katie, are you alright?" Alan asked.

    "What's the matter?" Edgar questioned.

I managed to regain enough breath to speak and looked up at the brothers.
    "Guys...something happened...last night..."

Alan looked worried.
    "What happened?"

I stood up now and glanced back and forth between the boys.
"I got attacked...by a vampire! You two were right!"

Edgar and Alan's eyes went wide. They shared a look with one another and then stared back at me. The dark-haired brother was first to react.

"Holy shit! Are you ok?!" He exclaimed, pulling me into his arms in a tight hug.

"Did it bite you? How did you get away?" Edgar interrogated instantly.

I looked over at him, his brother's arms still around me.
"I used that vial of holy water you gave me and threw it in its face. It shrieked and dropped me and I'm assuming it ran away after that because it was gone when I got back up."

Edgar nodded, listening carefully. He smirked slightly when I mentioned that I used his holy water to ward the vampire off, but he quickly got serious again.

Alan stopped hugging me now, but kept his hands on my arms.
"Did you see what it looked like? If it resembled anyone we know?"

I thought for a moment, but then sadly shook my head. I had been too scared at the time to pay attention to any crucial features.
"Not really. I definitely think it was a guy, but all I mainly saw were his eyes and fangs. Maybe he had blonde hair? I don't know, I can't remember."

I shivered then, thinking back to the night before, a whimper escaping my mouth as well. Alan stared at his brother before he pulled me back into another hug. This time even Edgar allowed himself to comfort me, lightly patting my arm for comfort while Alan rubbed small circles into my back.

When they stopped, I grinned at both of them.
"Thanks, you guys. I'm glad I have you two to lean on with something like this."

Alan smiled at me sweetly.
"No problem, Katie. It's why we're here."
