Sam, like he had for me, yelled out to his mom.
"I'll get it!!!"
Following him to the door, I stood behind the blonde as he opened it to be faced with Alan and Edgar. Sam stepped to the side and let them walk in, his tone matter-of-fact.
"Right on time."Edgar turned to him, his eyes half-lidded and his tone clearly already annoyed.
"Of course we are, do you think we're not serious about this?"As Sam tried to bicker back with him, Alan strided over to me and kissed my cheek.
"Hey doll. Things going ok so far?"Blushing, I managed a nod to him.
"I'd say yes. The garlic is in a little glass bowl on the dining room table and Sam has a mirror ready to grab on a shelf against the wall."Alan raised both eyebrows.
"What about the holy water?"I gestured up the stairs with my head.
"It's in his room. We'll grab it and fill Max's glass with it when he gets here."A smile crept its way onto Alan's mouth now. He wrapped an arm around my waist.
"My girl - already a natural at hunting vamps."I put a hand to his neck, brushing the skin with my thumb as I mirrored his smirk.
"I learned from the best!"The dark haired brother started to pull me closer, but he was interrupted by Sam, who had finally stopped arguing with Edgar.
"Come on, let's head up to my room."Without protest, the Frogs and I followed Sam up the stairs to his bedroom. As we climbed, I was reminded of the night before. Michael's menacing face snarling just inches in front of my own before he tried to attack Sam. The thought sent a shiver rippling up my spine while I walked behind Alan into the room.
The four of us all sat down in different spots in the room. I sat on Sam's bed, Alan took a seat on the floor between my legs, Edgar hopped up onto Sam's nightstand and Sam plopped down in his desk chair. For several long minutes that felt more like hours, all of us just sat in total silence. We all took turns glancing at each other and at other places in the room, but no words were said.
Until finally Sam spoke up about five minutes later. He cleared his throat and tried his best to sound perky.
"You guys want to play a game or something?"Immediately, Edgar's face crinkled up.
"Are you joking?"Feeling an argument brewing already, I decided to step in before it started.
"I think that's a great idea! We're all a little tense about tonight, it'd be nice to settle down a bit."
I glanced over at the bandana wearing Frog brother and chuckled a little.
"Especially you, Edgar."He shot me a glare, puffing out his bottom lip slightly.
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?"Thankfully, Sam cut in then. However, what he said made me wish he hadn't.
"Alright then. I've got a game. Katie - Screw, Marry, Kill? The three of us are your options."Alan started to stare daggers over at Sam, but quickly stopped himself by taking a breath. Edgar looked unbothered. Me on the other hand, felt wildly uncomfortable. My hands fiddled with the blanket on Sam's bed as I tried to even begin to think of what to say.
"Umm...." I was losing a staring contest with the floor when I slowly lifted my head and looked to all 3 of the boys, choosing wisely.
"I'd screw...Edgar, I guess, because these choices suck."From his spot on the nightstand, Edgar snickered at my choice while shaking his head.
"In your dreams, Katie."I gave him a semi-hard punch in the arm for his comment. From in front of me, his brother chuckled as I continued with my choices.
"I'd definitely marry Alan, because no offense, but out of the three of you he's the only one that I see with marriage material qualities."
