Fifteen

Once I reached the base I quickly walked inside, ignoring everyone's stares. I was still wearing my mask and I was covered in blood.

I pushed the button of the elevator and rolled my eyes when I saw it was on the top floor. I decided to take the stairs, since that would probably be faster anyway.

I walked up, brushing past other members of Aogiri. Then I saw a familiar face coming down the stairs. It was Kaneki. For a second I kind of panicked, but then I realized I was wearing my mask. He'd never seen it and he didn't know I was the Red Demon, so I held my head up high and walked past him. Once I did I looked over my shoulder to see him do the same. We made eye-contact for a second before I quickly looked back ahead.

I went to my room and into the bathroom where I stripped of my clothes, throwing them into the trashcan immediately. I hated fancy clothes and they were covered in blood anyway. Then I took off my mask and put it on the sink. I turned on the shower and stepped in. I watched as the water went from bright red to clear. Then I stepped out and wrapped my body in a towel.

I let the sink fill up with water and cleaned my mask. The water was red by the time I was done. I let the sink drain as I dried my mask with a small towel. Then I walked into my room and to the closet. I opened it and took out an over sized shirt and a pair of comfortable shorts. I quickly put them on and went back into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth before letting myself fall onto my bed, pulling the covers up to my chin.

I tried to fall asleep, but after a while I realized it wasn't gonna work. I sighed and sat up straight. I got out of my bed and threw on a big vest. Then I walked out of my room.

I walked down the stairs to the floor below. I knocked on Kaneki's door. When there was no response I quietly opened it. I looked inside, but he wasn't there. It surprised me a bit, since it was pretty late, but I didn't think too much of it. I closed the door again and kept walking through the hall until I reached Ayato's room. I knocked on the door. Again, no response. I quietly opened the door and peeked inside. I vaguely saw Ayato on his bed, asleep. I walked inside and closed the door behind me. I walked to the side of the bed and put my hand on Ayato's shoulder. He stirred in his sleep.

"Ayato-chan", I whispered.

"What is it?", he grunted as he turned around.

"I can't sleep", I whispered. "Is it alright if I sleep here?"

He turned back towards be and sleepily opened one of his eyes.

"Eiko?", he whispered.

"Can I sleep here?", I asked again.

"Of course", he said as he threw the covers back for me.

"Thanks", I whispered and I walked to the other side of the bed.

I quickly climbed in and threw my vest on the floor. I pulled the covers over myself and looked at Ayato, who was already asleep again. I smiled and closed my eyes, quickly drifting off into a deep sleep.

The next morning I woke up slowly and peacefully. I opened my eyes and turned around to see Ayato still asleep on the other side of the bed. I quietly got out of the bed and walked towards his closet. I took out a pair of shorts and the smallest t-shirt I could find. Then I took them with me to the bathroom.

I took a quick shower and got dressed. Then I rummaged through the drawers of the cabinet in the bathroom to find a packaged toothbrush. I ripped the packaging and brushed my teeth. When I was done I opened the door of the bathroom to see Ayato sitting on the side of the bed, rubbing his eyes.

"Good morning", I said.

"Good morning", he answered.

He got off the bed and walked towards the bathroom.
