Eiko's p.o.v.

I sighed in my cell. I was going crazy of boredom. Eventually Haise stopped visiting me, and although I'd liked that at first I now missed the distraction of talking to him. Every now and then Rei came by, but other than that there was absolutely nothing to do.

I thought about Ayato and Kaneki. About how they were doing. Then I thought about Hinami, Uta, Touka and Eto. And perhaps even a tiny bit about Nishiki.

"Eiko-chan", Rei's voice sounded through the speakers.

I looked up before walking to the side of the cell. I sat down on the chair and faced the wall. Then the grey color of concrete vanished and revealed itself as glass. I saw Rei sitting on a chair on the other side.

"Hello, Rei", I muttered. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"Just checking on you", he said with his usual slightly insane smile. "How are you doing?"

"I'm dying of boredom", I shrugged. "Got anything for that?"

"Now, now, Eiko-chan", Rei chuckled. "Don't be so ungrateful. You could have been executed."

"Perhaps that would have been less boring than being stuck in this concrete box", I sighed.

"Perhaps", Rei chuckled before pushing a button.

The glass turned grey again, and I rolled my eyes as I got off the chair. I laid down on the floor of my cell and stared at the ceiling.

After that nobody came to visit me. I didn't know how long it was, but neither Haise nor Rei came by again. I was more bored that I ever thought possible.

Eventually I started biting the skin off the tips of my fingers so I could draw stuff on the wall in blood. Anything for a little entertainment.

Until one day, when I was awoken by a bright light. I saw a silhouette, but it wasn't in the glass wall this time. The door to my cell was open. Then I recognized the silhouette and let myself fall back on the floor.

"Haise", I said in a bored tone. "Come to bloat?"

It was silent for a second. Then he spoke.

"I'm not Haise", he said softly. "Not anymore."

I shot up and took a careful step forwards.

"K- Kaneki?", I murmured.

He nodded. I ran forwards and jumped into his arms. When I pulled back to look at him I noticed he looked very different. His hair was black, he had grown a lot taller, and he was wearing glasses, but it was definitely him. I could tell by his cold gaze.

I took a small step back and put my hands on his chest. His heartbeat was steady and strong.

"You're back", I whispered.

Kaneki's eyes softened as he nodded.

Then I moved my hand back and slapped him across the face as hard as I could.

"Why did you let me rot in here for so long?", I asked as I narrowed my eyes. "Do you know how bored I was?"

"Sorry", Kaneki mumbled.

He seemed quite cold towards me, and for a second I was afraid he might have someone else, like that dumb Oshiro chick. But then he placed his one hand on my lower back and the other on the side of my face as he pulled me into a kiss.

I immediately kissed him back. Oh, how I'd missed the feeling. Then Kaneki pulled back and looked at me.

"You go on ahead", he mumbled. "I need to get some other people out."

I nodded and let go of him. I walked out of my cell and looked back at him one more time before running down the hall. I kept running until I reached a large open space. I'd memorized Cochlea's map for the raid mission, so I knew where I was. When I got closer to the exit I saw a group of familiar faces, but one drew my attention most of all.

"Ayato-chan", I breathed as I ran towards him.

Ayato turned his head when he heard his name. His eyes widened when he saw me running towards him. He wrapped his arms around me as soon as I reached him.

"I'm so sorry", he immediately said. "We didn't... I couldn't..."

"Ayato-chan", I said as I put my hands on the side of his face.

Happy tears streamed down my cheeks as I examined him.

"Oh, Ayato-chan you've gotten so tall", I said in a suffocated voice as I tried to stop more tears from falling. "How old are you? I- I don't know how long I was gone."

"I'm 19", Ayato whispered.

I stood on my tippy toes and he leaned down so I could lean my forehead against his.

"I missed you so much", I whispered.

"I missed you too, Onee-chan", he answered in a stifled voice.

More happy tears streamed down my face when I heard him call me that. Then I let go of him and took a small step back. I turned to the person next to him. Touka gave me a sad smile before hugging me.

I pulled back when I heard someone else call Ayato's name. When I turned around I saw a vaguely familiar girl running towards him.

"Hinami", Ayato whispered.

As soon as Hinami reached him he wrapped his arms around her, which made me smile. Then Ayato pulled back and kissed her full on the lips. I blinked a few times and turned to Touka, who chuckled at my expression.

I shook my head as I walked past them, to Kaneki. His eyes softened when I looked up at him. He took his glasses off and threw them away. Then he wrapped his arms around me and rested his chin on my head. I buried my face in his chest as I listened to his heartbeat. It was very fast, just like my own.

In that moment I didn't pay any attention to my surroundings. All that existed to me was my love, who had returned to me. I pulled back and put my hand on the side of Kaneki's face.

"Don't leave me again, please", I whispered.

He stared into my eyes and kissed me shortly but passionately.

"Never", he whispered.

I was about to kiss him again when someone tugged at my sleeve. As soon as I turned around Hinami wrapped her arms around me. She was just as tall as I was.

"I missed you, Hinami-chan", I murmured. "I didn't know you were also here."

"I missed you too", Hinami muttered. "I knew you were here, but I had no idea where."

"Your cells were right next to each other", Kaneki said as he wrapped his arms around the both of us.

"I wish I'd known that", I sighed. "I nearly died of boredom."

"I don't think it would've made any difference", Hinami mumbled.

I let Hinami go and Kaneki immediately put his arm around my shoulder.

"Let's go home", he mumbled. "To Anteiku."
