JASON

I got up, showered, and threw on grey joggers and a white t-shirt with my grey sweatshirt. I picked up my keys from where I'd thrown them on the ground in front of my bedroom door. I got in my car and headed down the hill to Katana's house.

When I was drying myself off from taking a shower, I looked at my bathroom counter. I remembered the night Katana was selfishly gonna give it up to me at my party. I slightly laughed at the memory of what her brothers had told me. I'm glad they did. Had I not have stopped myself, I could have really hurt her. I think I could have hurt myself mentally.

If I haven't already.

That evening we couldn't stop making out in her parents guest room, is what did it for me. She stayed with me that night in my room so her best friend and her brother could be alone together. After desert, Katana went upstairs to go to bed, while I stayed in the living room having conversations with Kenji, Katalina, and Mark. I saw an opportunity in her fake yawn as she looked me in the eyes right before she walked off.
When I went to bed, Katana was sound asleep like an angel. I didn't try a single ounce of funny business. I laid down next to her in the blankets, threw my arm around her, and fell asleep.

When I arrived at Katana's house. Her car was gone. Before I got out of the car. I did the trifecta before I looked like a psycho.

I knocked on the door. Maybe I could catch Rhonda, but I didn't see her car there either. She's probably with Sam.

I called her.

No answer.

I text her.

Me: I hope you are okay, Bear. I didn't sleep good without you by my side.

Shit! I didn't sleep at all.

I waited about ten minutes and no reply. That's it. I wont bug anymore. I'm gonna have to be patient and wait for her to ...do something. I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do at this point without looking crazy.

I started my car and turned my radio on. I looked at my last text from Rhoni last night.

She told me to be careful going through the mountain because of the roads.

She said Katana text her when she got to her "spot", not home.

I remembered Katana's words when she said where she would get away from everyone's bullshit.

Carmelo.

Why she would tell me that, beats the hell out of me.

I turned my car around toward the mountain highway. I laughed at Rhonda's assumption of a hint.

Driving through the mountain was exactly as Rhonda called it. I turned the radio up. Every song that played from my phone on bluetooth, kept reminding me of when I first saw Katana and when she started coming around the company, and when I first hired her.

Rhonda was already working for Gemu when it started. I had put together a cool team of people I went to the University with. I had faith in these people who were in my programming class with me. Rhonda was one of the handful of selected few.

Rhonda had a friend who would come in to pick her up for lunch. She was a petite and calm being, light skinned, dark wavy haired, beautifully hypnotizing, and I could see her beaming emerald green eyes when she looked around the building. Her soft luscious lips that grabbed my attention when she spoke.

When Rhonda came back from her lunch, she came into my office to drop off some papers. I had my face glued to my computer. "Who's your friend?" I still had my eyes glued to my screen with a smile on my face.
I could hear Rhonda laugh under her breath, "That's Katana, and she is off limits to you, sir."
"Why? She have a boyfriend?" I enquired. I still didn't take my eyes off of the screen as I typed random nonsense.
"No. But she hates rich guys. That includes you too, Jason Lew!"
