Earlier in the Mushroom Kingdom:
"Mario.... I don't want to get up..." Luigi mumbled.
"Come on Luigi. You have to get up at some point. It's a wonderful day outside" Mario replied, opening up the blinds to let the sunlight in.
Luigi shielded his eyes and turned away from the window. "Mario..." he groaned.
Mario sighed and rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Come on Luigi. I'd like to go outside and walk around."
"You go then..."
"No, I want to spend some quality time with my bro. Just get up!" Mario shouted, pulling at his arm.
"Okay, okay!!" He groaned. "Just give me a few minutes."
He pushed Mario out of his room. He came out a few moments later, in his casual clothes.
Luigi looked back at his dresser to see three certain stones on the top.
"Mario? Have you ever wondered what Lightning's up to?" He asked.
"She's probably out stopping Crime with her Squad." Mario answered
"Yeah, I suppose so. I just hope we would be able to see her again." Luigi picked up the Thunderstone.
"Me too, bro." Mario replied.
At that moment, a portal opened and Klefki flew right into Luigi's face. Luigi jumped back in surprise.
"Kl-Klefki???" He questioned.
"What are you doing here?" Mario asked.
"Lightning needs your help." Klefki answered.
"What's going on?" Luigi asked.
"Something is wrong with the Squad members and we need your help to figure out what's going on."
"Come on Luigi. We should go." Mario said, picking up the Water Stone and Fire Stone.
"Wait what??? I thought we were going for a walk?"
"Forget about that I thought you wanted to see Lightning again. This might be our only chance."
"Yeah but..."
"Come on, Luigi. Are you coming or not?"
"I am... But..."
"Then let's a go!" Mario grabbed Luigi's hand and jumped into the portal.
Klefki followed and the portal closed behind her.
