I was woken up by my phone screaming at me telling me it's time to go to work. The brightness of the screen caused my eyes to sting. I smiled sleepily at the sight of my new lock screen. It's a picture taken yesterday of all of us. We had asked a worker to take the picture.

"Morning, buttercup," Jackson smiled at me. He handed me a warm cup of tea as I walked through the door of the bookstore.
"Morning, Jacks. How are you on this fine morning?" I smiled along with him. This was a daily tradition when we had the same shifts. Either Jackson or I would bring the other tea or coffee in the mornings. It was a thing that made work a little better.
"I'm good. Excited to party in about seven days. Speaking of, you're still coming, right?"
"Of course. I just have to figure out who my plus one is going to be. I love you a lot, but I get left out really easy when I'm with you and your friends. Luckily you have Cadence there to make sure you aren't a complete pest-"
"Hey! You are so mean! You know what? Get to work!" I laughed along with Jackson. I walked towards the customer service station while he walked towards the back.
My phone rang a few time in my pocket and I resulted in just silencing it. I was getting glares from coworkers and I was already disliked greatly here. They assumed I was Jackson's favorite (which I am, but that's besides the point) because he was so quick to hire me. I have been on their bad sides since I first started working here, and it's been almost a year and a half. I gave up trying to please them a year ago. I'm a good worker and I know I deserve the job.

"Excuse me? Could you tell me if you have a book in stock?" a teenager asked me shyly.
"Of course, hun. What's the title and author?" The young girl told me and I typed it into the computer. "We do have it in stock. I'll show you to it."
As we walked towards the back corner of the store she spoke up, "Thank you for helping."
"It's no problem, sweetie. I'm glad to help. If you're ever looking for a good series like this book, you should check these out," I took a book down from the wooden shelf, "It's by the same author. I haven't gotten around to reading it myself, but I heard it's really good."
"Thanks," her small smile was just barely noticeable.

I walk out of the store and head to the bakery next door for my lunch break. I order a sandwich and drink and sit down at a small table. I take my phone out of my pocket to check it. Just missed calls from telemarketers. I opened up my text messages and started a new conversation.

Y/N:
Hey, Morgan. I have a friend's party coming up next Friday. Would you pretty please go with me???

Morgan:
I'm sorry, boo. I'll be busy all next weekend!! I promise I'll make it up to you :((

Y/N:
It's okay. I just have to figure out who would want to go with me.

Morgan:
Ask Andrew. He'll definitely stick with you the entire party, if that is what you're worried about.

I blush at the text and turn my phone off. After contemplating it for a couple of minutes, I turned my phone back on and sent one last text message.

Y/N:
Hey, Andrew? My friend is having a party next Friday. Would you want to go with me?
