In a town like Purgatory, there can be no secrets. Whether you like it or not, everyone knows everything about you. Waverly Earp has always been very aware of this which is why she never was a fan of keeping secrets. Because if you have a secret then people can find out and use it against you. People can hurt you. Giving people the power to hurt you terrified Waverly.

So, Waverly tried to live the life everyone wanted her to. She was the captain of the cheerleading squad, the best student in her class, and she had always dated the most attractive boys. This is what everyone at her high school and in her town wanted her to be. They wanted her to be the "it" girl of her hometown, so she was.

She had been living as the person everyone had wanted her to be for so long. Waverly was kind of over the whole "good girl" act she was so used to playing everyday. However, she knew that this year would probably be the same as any other. It was the first day of her Junior year of high school, and she was anything but excited. She pulled her blanket over her head, hoping she would disappear into her bed and she wouldn't have to go to school. However, just then her door swung open, and she was met with the loud voice of her older sister.

"Let's go baby girl! You can't be late for your first day back!" Wynonna said as she grabbed the blanket Waverly was shielding herself with and pulled it off of her. Waverly groaned loudly.

"Please don't make me go..." Waverly pleaded.

"Either you willingly get out of bed, or I'll drag you out of bed. Make your choice baby girl!" Wynonna yelled while leaving the room and closing the door to give Waverly some privacy to get ready. Waverly knew that Wynonna would seriously drag her out of bed unless she started getting ready. So, she reluctantly stood up and began getting ready. As she was getting dressed, she got texts in a group message from her best friends.

Jeremy: Hey Waverly! We have homeroom together this year. So I'll meet you by your locker before so we can walk there together!

Laura: I'm sad that I don't have homeroom with you guys :( but maybe we can meet up for lunch!

Waverly smiled at the text. Jeremy and Laura were her best friends in the world. They knew the real Waverly Earp. They saw past the façade she put on for everyone else. They knew that she was a weirdo, and a huge history nerd. Jeremy and Laura knew that Waverly would rather stay in and watch horror movies rather than go out to the random parties she often finds herself feeling obligated to attend.

Waverly had felt comfortable with them from the moment they met. Laura and Jeremy had moved to Purgatory their Freshman year, and they had all instantly clicked. Waverly was thankful she had friends (besides Wynonna) that she could be completely open with. She typed out a reply to their messages with a smile on her face.

Waverly: Sounds good! Can't wait to see you guys soon :)

The small Earp continued to get ready, before meeting Wynonna downstairs and beginning their ride to Purgatory High. As they pulled up to the building, Wynonna bid her sister goodbye, admitting that she was going to miss having her at the house all day everyday.

"I love you Wynonna, see you tonight." Waverly closed the door of the truck and gave her sister a small smile before turning towards the high school. She took a deep breath and walked into the school she had grown to strongly dislike. She opened the door and immediately was met with a few stares. Some guys whistled, a few girls greeted her, and it was a typical day for Waverly Earp. She gave everyone she passed a fake smile until she got to her locker and got a few moments of peace. As she unlocked her locker to unload her extra books, Jeremy and a tall girl she had never seen before startled her. It was weird to see someone that you didn't know in Purgatory.
