“Hey you want to do something cool?” Liam asked me as we sat in the full cafeteria.
“Sure” I replied “if you can actually find something fun to do in this hell”. Liam laughed.
“Follow me” he said grinning. I clenched my crucifix necklace and followed him down the long white hallway. He grabbed my wrist and we snuck out the back door.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“A place you’ll like” he said. We ran into the forest and stopped at a river ledge.
“You like it?” he asked. I smiled.
“Are you kidding?” I asked “It’s amazing, only if we can figure out a way to get down there”.
“We can always jump” he said.
“Yeah, but we can get hurt, that’s like three feet” I said concerned.
“Exactly, it’s only three feet! I jump down here all the time” Liam smiled at me then jumped down unharmed.
“Why don’t we build some steps, you know, just so we can get up easily” I suggested.
“Sure” Liam said climbing back up “I think I know where I can get some wood and tools”. We smiled at each other and ran to an old shed.
“There are tools and wood we can use here” he said.
“Look over there!” I screamed “stones!”
“Good eye” He said excitedly “those can come in handy, lets take them and the wood”. We exchanged knowingly glances and grabbed the stones and wood together. I felt happy inside that I found those stones. When we go to the ledge Liam jumped down and placed the first few stones. After a half hour or so we finished a nice set of steps. I smiled in awe and knew exactly what Liam was thinking. It was perfect!
“Let’s get back before it rains” Liam said nudging my shoulder “race you there”. I tied my shoe laces and ran for my life.

I woke and it was still dark out. The storm still didn’t pass, and it was very cloudy. I checked the time. 3:21. I clenched my crucifix necklace and grabbed my mp3 player looking for sanctuary. I wasn’t in the mood to write down my dream. I closed my eyes and blocked out the word.
