the phone call

Chapter 1

The phone call

'ring ring' was the sound the phone made just before mum answered it.

"Hello?"

I didn't know who was on the phone but I only needed two fingers to guess. It was probably my mum's new boyfriend Chris. She met him over the internet, I think it was on Facebook. From what I knew he was from the UK, and he made my mum happy, which was good news for me!

My name is Mia, I'm 20 and still living with my mum. Yes I know what you're thinking! I'm working my butt off at the supermarket and I've got a lot saved away for a house of my own. It's just I live in Melbourne and I have been looking at houses in Budgiewoi. Since I was 10 years old I had wanted to move to Sydney and I had really become quite attached to Budgiewoi after visiting there in 2010 when I was 19, I went on a road trip there with a bunch of my best friends and on the plus side my favourite uncle lived there too.

"Miaa! Where are you, I've got some good news!" I heard mum call from the kitchen, I walked out to go see.

"We've been invited to go and stay with Chris in Paris." Mum was obviously really excited about this.

Oh great, Chris was really rude to me over the phone and I didn't really want to meet him.

"By any chance can I go stay with uncle John?" I sheepishly asked.

She huffed looking annoyed.

"well that's fine by me but you're going to have to talk it though with him." She replied

I went straight back to my room and dialled his number into my Iphone.

After about an hour on the phone to him, he said yes of course. Why wouldn't he? He loves me!
