Chapter 34
Twists and turns
-the next morning-
I slowly got out of Bradie's bed trying not to wake him, I made my way down the hall and to the kitchen to get a drink, my head was throbbing.
I looked out the window to find the backyard was twice as messy as the inside. Andy was also out there..
"Andy! What're you doing out here?"
I asked sounding surprised.
"couldn't sleep." he replied rudely.
I know Andy was angry and he probably didn't want to talk about what happened last night, but I didn't do anything wrong and I figure it'd be good for him to talk about it. Obviously I wouldn't dare force him to speak. But just as long as he knew I was here, is all that matters.
I walked over to the banana lounge he was laying down on. I sat on the one next to him. In perfect view of the pool.
"Andy? Do you wanna talk about it?" I asked partly scared he might rip my head off!
He sighed, showing his worry in his eyes. His facial expression was extremely confused.
"I just can't believe jade would do that to me..." he trailed off.
I held his shoulder.
"Andy.. I-"
"save it." he hissed. "there's nothing you can say or do to fix it." and with that he got up and left. Leaving a ridiculous expression on my face.
-Later that day-
Bradie and I had been slowly cleaning the house up, Andy was in a horrible mood so we didn't bother asking him to help.
Suddenly my phone started ringing.
-incoming call-
Mum
"hang on I've gotta get this." I smiled at Bradie and walked outside for privacy.
"hey mum, what's up?"
"Mia! Hi, I wasn't sure I'd get a hold of you, I called you a few times last night....
How are you doing?" she asked.
"good thanks, and you?"
"not bad, listen.
I know you're enjoying your stay at your uncle Johns, but I'm at the airport right now and I'm coming home. I called John yesterday while you were out, he's bought the ticket for you to come home, I told him I'd pay him back. So you'll need to pack your stuff up, because your plane leaves at 4:00am tomorrow morning."
I hadn't realized my jaw was dropped throughout all of that.
"okay..." was all I could say.
I can't leave Bradie now.. Can I?
We hung up and I went back inside.
"is everything okay?" he asked, bringing me into a sweet hug.
"ah. Bradie?"
"yeah?" he asked looking worried.
"I'm leaving tomorrow morning."
His face dropped. He said nothing.
*******
I was on my way back to Uncle Johns house to pack my stuff.
Of course I didn't want to leave, but I knew I'd be getting that phone call soon, I just wish it wasn't right now.
I opened the door.
"hey." Luke smiled, while walking upstairs.
"hey Mia." John spoke clearly.
"how was your night?"
"good thanks, I'm just gonna go pack my stuff..." I trailed off.
"Mia wait."
"yeah?" I asked standing on the stairs.
"I'm sorry i didn't tell you, you were having a good night last night and I didn't want to wreak it. But this is what your mother wants." he smiled friendly as if to tell me I'm welcome here whenever.
"it's alright." I smiled back.
********
I got off the plane and looked around the airport, I had promised Bradie i'd call him everyday and Skype him.
Saying goodbye to him didn't feel real.
I found my suitcase and grabbed it.
Then calling mum to find out where she was.
" I'm right behind you dear." she laughed into the phone.
I turned around first smiling widely at mum glad to see her.. But then I realized a man standing next to her..... It was Chris.
